Türkiye is making the state of the art Altay tank from zero prior experience and zero industrial base now with 100% local input. This is brilliant.

We would've done that far sooner if the government hadn't fucked around with the tender to play favourites and give the project to an inexperienced and utterly incompetent company. This is fucking negligence.

I remember getting excited for the new Turkish tank back when i was a kid, and even if its the best one there is -i doubt it- i really think that the best tank is the tank that is available. Hopefully there are no more delays since our tank fleet is old enough to have grandchildren .

You want to have the latest and greatest, once you have all the components already available for a tank you get to choose how to configure a tank to your heart's content. Do we want to have a hybrid tank or a fully combustion model or do we want a bigger bore gun with it, it is all in our hands now and you get to choose the number to be made and color as well or to what countries to export it to, unbelievable but true.

its a learning curve. Its the first time making a tank in a serial production way. Imagine you're building a lego set over and over again first you start slow but then increase with every build its the same here plus the factory isin't finished jet once it is after like 1-2 years it will reach its maximum production capacity

its a learning curve. Its the first time making a tank in a serial production way. Imagine you're building a lego set over and over again first you start slow but then increase with every build its the same here plus the factory isin't finished jet once it is after like 1-2 years it will reach its maximum production capacity

Also you need to arrange raw materials flow, subsystems, barrels, optics etc to keep up with the hull production as well. Setting that up also takes time.

Hopefully this and saving Altay delivery announcement for the 29OCT reception is the real reason for the delay.

since its from new BMC factory i bealive its new footage but what about the old Factory that BMC took from Army ? Has anyone information what they are doing there ? modernisation pf old tanks ? Production of İFV /APC ?

I think it will be used to modernise the 2a4 and more service oriented maybe if TIYK M60 also gets approved they will be modernised as well

What they are doing i dont get it ?
They are assebling korean engine or mass producing Turkish BATU engine !
İf they ara producing in mass BATU now than why 85 Altays are with Korean engines until 2028 ?!
