Taj Mahal is in your country.
My bad, I copied it from elsewhere including the text...anyway the point is Taj Mahal is the only architectural site which has always been highlighted when it comes to India but there are several other (both Islamic and Hindu) buildings/religious sites/monuments/sculptures which much more complex and magnificent marvels...particularly the time when they were built

Much to my shame, I haven't been to most of these places except a few in Rajasthan. If you have some nice pics of Jaisalmer and its Fort, please put those up too. It seemed out of some magical
folktale.

Yes this is "the" major temple of my hometown.

On way to it by road, we would pass by TNAU (T.N Agricultural Uni.) and Bharatiyar university. The whole road leading to the temple has seen the city expand there a lot in recent decades (Bharatiyar uni used to be all on its own and stood out in the greenery etc. Now its a lot more urban all around...but at least not too greatly.

But there is still a pristine setting w.r.t this "malai" (mountain) itself, a natural abode of "the" Tamil god Murugan....and there is natural scenery and tranquil setting away from the City.

It is often included with "the" major 6 (arupadaiveedu) muruga temples (w.r.t the muruga canon story) of TN ....as the unofficial 7th.

Hafeshwar temple is located in Kawant taluka approximately around 40 km from the main town of Chhota udepur. it is an ancient shiva temple and is submerged in the water for most part of the year. only the flag of the temple can be seen , rest is submerged under waters of the Narmada catchment area.Locals have it that this is a historic shiva temple which existed here since a long time on a hillock.

Hanfeshwar temple came out after 18 years, see the view

Narmada river is the life line of Gujarat. Due to the severe heat, its water has started drying. Day by day its water level is decreasing. Not only the government but also the common man is worried about this. In such a way, the historic Shiva temple is now visible. This brings immense happiness among the devotees of Shiva. People have started coming here from far away to visit. Hanfeshwar temple located in Kwant Tehsil was completely drowned after Sardar Sarovar dam was built on Narmada river. Now after 18 years, this temple is visible again.

Markandeya Rishi had harsh penance

Hanfeshwar is the name of this village, where Kalhanseshwar Mahadev is sitting in the Shivalay. It is said that Rishi Markandeya had recited Shiva's prevailing story here to Yudhishthir as Kalhansheshwar.
