It appears that Indian goverment is trying to hide the scale of the corona pandemic in India. Media has not been reporting the true scale of the problem. Twitter has been told to block accounts in order to suppress the scale of the problem.

Fatalities have been overlooked or downplayed, understating the human toll of the country’s outbreak, which accounts for nearly half of all new cases in a global surge.

Desperate neighbours,

Wuhan Virus isn’t the only thing that is kiling people in India, old age deaths, heart diseases and other causes of deaths are also causing a surge in cremations, where do you think a regular person who died without getting infected by the wuhan virus will be cremated?

Desperate neighbours,
Boss, I think your in a sea of desperation and don't need to find it in your neighbours. You can of course choose to hide or ignore it like your government is doing but it's pretty lame. Entire global media is reporting of the meltdown in India. You need to introspect "araay".

Go to the video I posted at 1:25 and it might even cut through your denial.

NYT has always been into extreme tragedy porn for a long time....to get as much clickbait sensationalism/paranoia for later.

While the situation is a dire one (and should not be underplayed), they have cherrypicked (anecdotes mostly) the worst of it and presented it as the entire situation.

The covid deaths (as far as under-reporting goes) if you follow the open source chart of ANY reporting country (that does mass scale testing for it, which is NOT the prevalent feature outside of India when it comes to the region) often are added in much larger chunks later given the data dissemination standards in play with co-morbidities.

Targeting this in an ongoing (2nd wave) crisis is foolhardy and reeks of typical media bubble contempt.

Just like they did with certain parts of the original corona crisis in their home country and the West (as and when it suited their political agenda)...as many countries added deaths far later than when they happened (especially as definitions of what a corona-related death changed).

At the same time they (NYT, CNN etc) are notorious MSM groups known to mis-report + underplay the direct policy that ANDREW CUOMO (NY governor, an allied democrat of NYT and the media cabal) stuffing infected elderly BACK INTO retirement homes leading to 20,000+ totally avoidable deaths at least (probably far more).

But he's a democrat leftie (and apparently even a "me too" pervert/assaulter) ....so out comes the news-suppression, deflection and everything else (till it really builds up and explodes months later from people-pressure).

We are supposed to take the narrative of such a hypocrite MSM group seriously?

Well it's easy to crap on the media or describe it as "porn" when it reports something that you don't like. The BBC also reports Indian government has asked Twitter to censor any Indian accounts contents it does not like. That is censorship. Please go to the BBC video at 1:25.

Been following twitter myself, its lot of extra coverage from massive journalist and indian media groups there (on top of indian citizens themselves)....so really the reporting by BBC/NYT/CNN or whomever else in the typical media cabal worldwide....I really have lost trust on a good long time as to their cherrypicked+extrapolation narrative when it comes to any crisis.

Especially when they have aligned their own repression+expasion w.r.t political alignment when it comes to news reporting+analysis considerably.

They have little to no standing left to comment on this after what they have done all through 2020 on this matter in their own countries and others. They are not neutral institutions by any stretch....that has been made blatantly clear.

Anyway, the twitter handles that were clamped down upon by Indian govt, are specific ones speaking/representing for political parties....public figures like that have a certain threshold to meet given they voice for a larger collective.

It was stupid of them (Indian govt) to do I agree (I just looked at the content/context of what was being talked about myself)....but their argument will be handled by twitter and its rules (which have been totally arbitrary on lot of things a long time so I don't like that process either).

Twitter has deleted a lot of comments "for rule violations" that were stupid...if they do so for this one, its the same thing IMO.

But the 99.9999% of actual tweets from Indian media (from right, left, centre), social media and citizens continues as normal....just like they did while Trump-GOP and democrats did so all the time in 2020 and before.

Political sniping at this level (by whomever is in power vs opposition in politics and vice versa and bringing out the "rule book") is not a new phenomenon to twitter nor one exclusive to India by far. I am resigned to that as much as I hate it.

@Nilgiri did you edit the title of this thread? If so why? And why was I not notified? The thread is about Indian government censoring free speech. By forcing Twiiter to hide certain tweets it amounts to censorship. I am opening another thread to EXACTLY reflect the report cited below. Please do not tamper with it.

It wasn't me (I honestly didn't notice when I was replying what the specific titles were).

But the forum policy is to use the title of the article you post at the start of thread (from NYT).

If you want to focus on another issue, then its best you lead with that particular article (with such title) next time.

Your country has been lying about its cases since a year, focus on that first, your oxygen consumption daily is more than 700 MT with 4-5k cases a day while Karnataka has 600MT with 30k cases a day.
