Air Defence Exercise ‘ADEX 2021-2’ of Bangladesh Air Force was held in Dhaka, Chattogram, Jashore, Cox’s Bazar, Tangail and Barishal on Wednesday.
With this motto ‘Free Shall We Keep the Sky of Bangladesh’ BAF conducts this exercise regularly to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness and weaknesses of her time befitting Air defence capability.
All types of BAF fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, helicopters, radar squadrons and air defence missile units participated in the exercise.
As part of the exercise, the pilots of BAF practiced in different air combat manoeuvres and tactics including interception, air to air missile firing, air to ground live firing, surveillance and recce, protection of Air Bases, transporting weapons, rescue of ejected/survived aircrew from enemy territory and special operations.
Mentionable that, different units of Bangladesh Army and Navy also participated in the exercise on limited scale.

The new Bangladesh Air Force C-130J 99-5485 finally makes her outing today. Ex RAF C.5 ZH887 has got civilian registration S3-AGJ. Perhaps S3-AGH has been reserved for ex ZH883. As GRE is being serviced this week, the aircraft is likely to run engines later today outside on Delta.

The new Bangladesh Air Force Lockheed C-130J (99-5485, S3-AGJ) first outing at Cambridge Airport on September 9, 2021, almost a year since the delivery of the third BAF C-130J 99-5480 (S3-AGG). The refurbished ex RAF ZH887 aircraft's civil registration breaks an alphabetic order of BAF C-130 registrations, suggesting that the 'skipped' S3-AGH reg is reserved for the sister plane 99-5481 (ex ZH883), which is still under conversion.

Bangladesh Air Force celebrated the “Air Force Day” yesterday marking its 50th anniversary
Responding to the call of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the heroic freedom fighters of the Air Force defected Pakistan Air Force and participated in the war of liberation.
During the war, necessity of an air force was felt strongly, thus Bangladesh Air Force came into being on September 28, 1971 at Dimapur, India. That journey started with the name “Kilo Flight” with one Otter aircraft, one Dakota aircraft and one Allouette helicopter and 57 expatriates from Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan International Airlines, read a press release.
With about 50 operations Kilo Flight had shaken the nerve of Pakistani Forces by attacking strategic targets like Fuel depot at Godnail in Narayanganj and Eastern Refinery in Chittagong.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Bangladesh Air Force put up aerial display of numeric “50” by PT-6 aircrafts over Faridpur, Narayanganj and Dhaka.
Fighter aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force comprising Mig-29 and F-7 flew over Godnail (Narayanganj), Eastern Refinery (Chittagong), House of AVM Sultan Mahmud (officer commanding, Kilo Flight) to commemorate the courageous contribution of Kilo Flight during the Liberation War.
In addition to that, a fascinating fly past over Tejgaon airfield was conducted by C-130, K-8W, PT-6 aircraft, Mi-17 and Bell-212 helicopters, read the statement.
On this occasion, spectacular fireworks and cultural program were arranged in the evening.
Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, BUP, nswc, fawc, psc graced the occasion as chief guest.
In the program, a documentary film based on Kilo Flight was screened highlighting the contribution, sacrifice, spirit of independence and patriotism of the members of Bangladesh Air Force during the liberation war, added the statement.
Among others, Kilo Flight veterans, former chiefs of Bangladesh Air Force, principal staff officers of Air Headquarters, invited guests, senior military and civil officials were also present on the occasion.
