The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained an Indian national for allegedly entering Bangladesh illegally through a border area in Chattogram's Fatikchhari.
The detainee, identified as Puton Mollo, 19, was apprehended around 1:30pm today (22 June) from North Andharmanik, a border-adjacent area of the upazila, with assistance from local residents.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by Lieutenant Colonel Md Ahsan Ul Islam, commanding officer of the Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB).
According to the release, Puton Mollo is the son of Badal Mollo of Ramendranagar village under Sabroom Police Station in South Tripura, India.
BGB said preparations are underway to file a case against him under the relevant laws. He will be handed over to Bhujpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The border force also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, preventing illegal border crossings and combating transnational crimes.

According to a press release issued by Naogaon-16 BGB today (24 June), the incident took place around 4am near Adatola Border Outpost (BOP) under Sapahar upazila.
Members of India's 29 BSF Battalion from Elenpur camp attempted to push nine individuals- three men, three women and three children into Bangladesh through border pillar 244/MP, it said.
However, a BGB patrol team rushed to the spot after receiving the information and successfully foiled the attempt, it added.
Following the intervention, the nine individuals were left stranded in the no-man's land between the two countries' borders.
Additional BGB personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain security, and surveillance has been strengthened with the help of local residents, the press release added.
Lt Col Md Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of Naogaon-16 BGB, said patrols in the area have been increased after the incident.
"No one will be allowed to enter Bangladesh illegally, including these nine individuals," he said, adding that efforts are underway to send them back to India.

BD building dam Inside its border for water management or procuring fighter jets to modernize armed forces does not harm India. It would be a legitimate case if we were harboring anti-India insurgencts like Pakistan allegedly do. But that's not what we are talking here.
