Good points all. If you ask me I agree that the Indonesians made a wonderful choice. These will be their lead ships, considering two frigates will cost $720 Million and that they are 6,645 tonnes displacement each. The superstructure design seems sound, and the hull is sound as well. These days no nation has money to spend on cutting edge unproven designs except the US, which has a different class of wherewithal.

But US made some mistakes too, with the latest Independence class etc.

The US can afford to make mistakes, nations like us should think five times before taking any step.

The cost only covers some sensor and navigation system (mainly provided by cassidian/hensholdt and terma) beside the hull, but captass (if any because the Navy will likely projected the Itver based class Frigates as AAW Frigates) , Missiles system and other subsystem like ECM, EW, CIWS and among other would be at separated deals (FFBNW) with ongoing negotiation for ESSM or MICA /CAMM ER and so on still not being conclude.

Meanwhile as multi purpose/ASW platform would be provided by 8 FFM 30 based class. And other thing is Indonesia is in the hunt for second hand Frigates platform mainly from Europe and Japan. This very important phase for us, as the Navy found itself at cross roads and forefront of another type of Cold War with PLA Navy increasingly being belligerent and bold enough to cross our Naval boundary at multiple occasion and places.

Turkey offered Ada/Milgem class as LPC tender competitor to Bangladesh navy. It comes equipped with 8 anti ship missiles. Bangladesh navy fleet commander Rear Admiral Mahbub Ul Islam confirmed the news on 6th turkey defence port.

Turkey would have to compete against South Korean and Italian bids with its ATMACA missile to secure sales of LPC (Ada class is basically a heavy corvette/ light frigate)

The Bangladesh Navy has confirmed it will participate in the international naval exercise Aman-2021 in the waters of Karachi, Pakistan during February.
The Bangladesh Navy has participated in the exercise since 2009.

The Aman-2021 exercise seeks to strengthen and develop military cooperation between the participant states, in order to ensure security and stability in the sea, as well as facilitate the exchange of experience in fighting piracy in the interest of intensive maritime trade.

The Bangladesh Navy could potentially deploy one or two of its newer surface combatants such as a guided missile frigate and a guided missile corvette to the exercises in Pakistan.

The Bangladesh Navy participates in almost every major international naval exercise in the Asia-Pacific region. It recently participated in exercises with the navies of India and the US.

Bangladesh Navy all set for post-Yaas disaster management: ISPR

Bangladesh Navy has made the necessary preparations at three levels to conduct emergency rescue operations and relief work after cyclone Yaas passes.

In this regard, 18 warships, maritime patrol aircraft, and helicopters have been kept ready to combat the cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal, said an Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) press release.

According to the plan, the warships will actively participate in post-disaster management activities around inland rivers routes, coastal areas, and sea areas in Chattogram, Mongla, Barishal, Jhalokathi, Barguna, Patuakhali, Khulna, Satkhira, Pirojpur, Narayanganj, and the Saint Martin's Island.

Besides, the navy's maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters have taken overall responsibility to gather information on rescue operations in the sea area.

Meanwhile, all the contingents deployed by the Bangladesh Navy in the coastal areas of the country are conducting various precautionary campaigns in the public interest and providing assistance to the local administration in evacuating locals from the risky zones to safe shelters.

Regarding emergency relief work and medical assistance, the Navy has been coordinating with local administrations while preparing with additional relief and medical teams under its own management.

On the other hand, necessary arrangements have been made to move to relocate the displaced Myanmar nationals living in Bhasan Char to a pre-determined cyclone shelter on the island, where necessary medical supplies, life jackets, and one month's worth of dry food have been stored.
