When utilized in urban settings, each main battle tank will be deployed with two BMPT, however outside of urban combat, the ratio is inverted, with one BMPT defending two main battle tanks. The BMPT's armor protection is comparable to that of the MBT, and its strong firepower allows it to attack practically any adversary formation when operating in coordinated combat formation.
The BMPT's multiple weapon system allows it to fire at many targets at the same time. These improvements greatly improve tank units' combat effectiveness and decrease casualties from opponent close combat assets.
The BMPT is armed with four 9M120 Ataka missile launchers, two 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannons, two AG-17D grenade launchers, and one coaxial 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun.
