The BGB has captured the Chaikhyangpara camp of the terrorist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in the remote hills of Bandarban. Huge ammunition and arms have been seized from here. The BGB will set up five BOPs (Border Observation Posts) across a large area of the remote mountainous border. It will protect the mountain border.

BGB Director General Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan gave this information in response to a question in the exchange meeting with journalists after the 53rd border conference of BGB-BSF director general level at BGB headquarters on Thursday afternoon. He said, BGB took any BOP in the hilly border. That is why members of the extremist organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) can travel freely through those areas. The BGB will set up five BOPs to prevent the KNF from returning through the border area after they have moved away.

Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan said, ‘I have planned the operation how the place will be protected after the KNF is freed from the mountain. Besides, BGB did not have BOP in those areas which are inaccessible. I have planned to make five BOPs of BGB from Chaikshyangpara to Dopanichhra. We have already made Chaikshyongpara KNF free. Currently, BGB is stationed there. Later, the unprotected areas should be adequately protected.’ Major General Nazmul Hasan added that BGB has taken necessary steps to ensure that no Kuki-China can enter or leave the border area of the country.

In response to a question about the return of KNF chief Nathan Bam from India, the BGB director general said, ‘It is a matter of discussion at the highest level of the government. There was no discussion with BSF regarding the transfer of Nathan Bam.’

The weapons used by the KNF come from India or Myanmar. When asked about non-entry of arms, BGB Director General said, ‘We have informed the BSF about the information we had. They have also been told and assured by the BSF that the BSF should also seal their borders.

Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan also said, ‘BGB is carrying out peacekeeping duties in the Chittagong Hill Tracts along with the Bangladesh Army. Joint operation with army against KNF. BGB has already occupied a KNF camp. A number of firearms, KNF uniforms and handguns have been recovered from that camp.

BGB plans to procure drones in future.

What's the occasion that BGB has been flying their two Mi-17s regularly with national and their monogram flags below since last week? I don't remember seeing separately anything like this from them

Home affairs advisor Brig Gen (retd) M Shakhawat Hossain has urged the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to discharge their duties diligently and refrain from showing back at the border in any cases.

While speaking to the media at the BGB headquarters in Dhaka, he recalled that even in cases of trespassing into Bangladesh and subsequent killings, everything would have been settled through a flag meeting.

“A force like the BGB was instructed to show its back at the border. Our people were killed at the border, and the BGB was forced to hold flag meetings. I have asked them not to show their back at the brother, enough is enough,” he said.

The home advisor went to the BGB hospital at Pilkhana in the afternoon on Tuesday, to see the BGB men who suffered injuries during the quota reform protests. Later, he faced the media and responded to various queries.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly shot down a Bangladeshi national on the other side of the Shibganj border in Chapainawabganj on Sunday.

M Shakhawat Hossain said, “They enter our territory and kill our people. We hold flag meetings and say everything is settled, or say we have no idea over the issue. Those days are over".

Blaming the previous government for exploiting the forces, he said, "They turned these forces into monsters. Those responsible for it will be taken to the international court. They have killed many people and destroyed all the institutions. These are national forces, and do not belong to any individual."

The Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has so far refused to return five Indian nationals whose boat strayed into Bangladesh’s territorial waters despite several flag meetings on Sunday and Monday with India’s BSF (Border Security Force), officials aware of the matter said on Monday.

The process of re-investigation and serving justice for the BDR carnage will begin soon, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

The adviser made the statement while talking to journalists at his office at the Secretariat today (2 September) following a meeting with Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh Reto Renggli.

While sharing views with journalists, the adviser reiterated the interim government's commitment to establishing people's rights, good governance and justice.

"Not only as an adviser but as a former member of the army and a general citizen, I want a just trial of the BDR killings too. The reinvestigation process will begin soon," the adviser said.

Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) busted an alleged den of insurgents and recovered a huge amount of arms, ammunition, drones, and advanced technology equipment from a hilly, remote area along the Bandarban border on Thursday (19 September).

Based on an intelligence report, it was revealed that a group of hilly insurgents had allegedly established a hideout deep in the jungles of the remote Dopanichhara area near the border of Ruma upazila of Bandarban.

Promoted by it, a special operation was conducted by the BGB's Ruma Battalion (9 BGB), led by Lt Col Hasibul Haque. The operation took place some 5.5 kilometres southeast of the border.

During the operation, the BGB discovered a variety of advanced technology equipment and weapons at the alleged insurgents' hideout.

The items included two automatic carbine assault rifles, one semi-automatic assault rifle, three submachine guns, 21 rounds of live ammunition, one advanced drone, one advanced signal jammer, one audio or video recorder, one video camera, one tech-based button camera for intelligence gathering, one hidden video recorder device, one binocular, two walkie-talkies, one laptop, two powerful lights, one solar system, one satellite TV receiver, one umbrella, two Android phones, two feature phones, various sharp local weapons, Bangladeshi liquor, one helmet, and cooking materials.

Moreover, observation posts, trenches, a temporary armory, rest-house, and a cookhouse were found at the site, all of which were completely destroyed.
