but on the air dominance operations long - medium range missiles are required in the configuration
usaf use combination of amraam + sidewinder and sparrow sometimes
so i think for rafale its logical to use the meteor + mica

USAF is on track to replace AIM-120D after AIM-120D performed very badly against Growlers. They are working on AIM-260 that has a longer range and an advanced multi-mode seeker(IIR+RF).

Egypt should have gone to Denel to get a tailor made BVRAAM called Marlin that could be licensed in country.

Denel has been known to pursue ITAR free components, but anyway Denel Dynamics is dead so thats not a big issue anymore.
