China is denouncing new sanctions imposed by the United States on Chinese companies the U.S. says exported missile technology.
On Saturday, the Commerce Ministry in Beijing denied the accusation and said China will take necessary measures to defend the rights and interests of its companies, suggesting retaliation of some kind.
On Friday, the U.S. State Department banned American trade with four Chinese companies it accused of missile proliferation.
Later the same day, China's Foreign Ministry said the U.S. is smearing China and urged Washington to remove the sanctions.
