^his "fir haanth me sharaab hai" one is killer, give it a listen even though you're a good muslimeen and don't drink no sharaab etc.

love that song, he covered Trent Reznor (NIN) there just in case any weren't aware.

good stuff

Ataullah bhi mast hai !

Yeah Trent has made some great music as well, and it was very gracious of him to say the song essentially had become Cash's now.

Cash has made a number of covers (it makes sense to take excellent songs and "cashify" them), just a few days back I came across his cover of "big iron", which he did a good job on....though in this case I prefer the original by Marty Robbins a little bit more.

Marty Robbins is of course now pretty famous "again" due to the finale episode of breaking bad where walt's in the car at the start and turns on the radio and its "El Paso" playing (giving a succinct summary of what is about to happen if you knew the rest of the lyrics, Vince Gilligan is a genius).

Another cover that Cash definitely improved upon was "hung my head" originally by Sting, though I love Sting's version too and its very rare time signature 9/8 (that cash didnt keep and used more traditional 4/4, notably changing the pacing):

Music is one of my favourite things to enjoy and discuss...

It bypasses a lot of the other BS between people lol.

Amen, Om, Ameen !

I'm not super huge on Cash, only know a few of his popular ones.. folsom prison blues is about all, really.. and a handful of other popular ones. Will look into your recommendations, thanks much.

Another absolute favorite of mine has to be 'solitary man' , originally by Neil Diamond ?

and Cash did a cover which also featured in the final episode of Stargate Atlantis

agoris are cool - other Hindus would be sucking up to foreigners/ CNN till the end of times
Agori guy on the other hand just refuses to give a flying F***
LOL, that Reza Aslan thing.

I think they vibed him and CNN out, in that this was more a hit piece on their thing rather than real journalism.

If you're interested, there are some good (if a bit disturbing) documentaries about them. I posted a thread or 2 at the old place in the offtopic section, you could try look them up if you want.

If you want an easy read that goes through all the sensational stuff, you can check his trilogy out.

Aghora : At the left hand of god, by Robert E Svoboda

It's a nice primer, and may tickle your imagination to look a bit deeper into, the other 2 books are significantly tougher reads and really go into the nuts and bolts of their philosophy.

all very fascinating, but man, these bitches are 4rls !!

I ever see one irl, I'll be engaging afterburner, and chaff and flare my ass the hell out of there in a hot second. I might even consider ejecting during supersonic flight, without a parachute if I ever get one of these bandits on my tail lol

So, the SC in a unanimous verdict greenlit the scrapping of Article 370

Indians from all over will easily get domicile and get buy property there

You are a stargate fan out of interest?

I grew up watching SG-1 around high school/uni , Atlantis was a good continuation arc too all things considered.

They ruined SGU a bit too much for my liking (it started off ok, then lost its way).

In BC (where I visit fairly frequently) where they filmed lot of SG stuff, they used to still have a lot of the stargates themselves out in the nature parks one could visit when they werent filming etc. That all got removed now though, but the filming locations make a good "stargate" circuit still for the fanbase....given the natural scenery of these spots.

BTW those backing vocals on Cash's cover of solitary man, are Tom Petty...another legend.

Reminds me of backing vocals on iggy pop's "passenger".... David Bowie heh.

Collabs are fun. Cash actually did some very noteworthy ones.

I am/was, bit of a sci fi geek here.

The original movie was great, SG-1 was fun, Atlantis was pretty good too, shame about SGU though, it was all very slick produced and going well when they pulled the plug on it barely a season in, shame.

and how cool, real life stargate props ! I'd have loved to visit if was there, might just if I ever travel there. That and 'Tatooine' in Morocco. :D

I want one of these:

Yeah now I remember you were that guy with the avatar of yoda in my last year of PDF before the "red wedding".

I think we did chat a bit here and there....then later you kind of went almost full troll mode I think.

Sci fi guy like me in the end, good stuff.

My staples growing up in 90s were TNG, Voyager, DS9, Babylon 5, and then early SG-1. and firefly. There was only one season of firefly though, they tried to give it closure with the serenity movie.

That was the greatest decade of sci fi TV....dont think that era will return, it was a sweetspot.

These shows all rate in the 8 - 10/10 solidly. Now you are lucky if you get a show above 5/10, but I'm a tough scorer.
