I've been to a German family once when I was younger and the family asked me to leave because it was dinner time. So weird.
its basic human kindness to share your next meal or snacks with guests. It is genuinely weird , this ''concept'' of not offering food to guests baffles me.
Could it be because they eat pork?
Yeah it was the same here in the Netherlands with me. One of the most awkward moments of my life, mainly cuz I used to opportunity to steal my friends toy car. Little shit was bragging about it. We can laugh about it now tho
I dont know, but if my family had a vegetarian as a guest, my mother would have made sure that our guest would get something vegetarian.
Med and middle eastern cultures are very giving.
I visited an Italian family once as a kid I have to say they were really giving.

Just speaking from my experience here, generally you'll be invited for coffee/tea and something to go along with that, e.g. biscuits, cake or the very popular "Reindling" in southern Austria. But partaking in lunch or dinner with the rest of the family is uncommon, though getting invited to sit down at the table and eat along if possible/or something else that's available is usually done when you're in the house. That's what I personally experienced anyway. This twitter thread potentially has some answers as to the background of this phenomenon in Northern Europe:

Power is still with BJP - they just overturned the Aarey decision.
'Don't toy with environment…': Uddhav's warning after Shinde's Aarey reversal
After he took over as the chief minister in 2019, Uddhav Thackeray had stayed the construction of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro 3 corridor and appointed a panel to look for alternative plots. The Aghadi government had designated Aarey Colony as a reserve forest.www.hindustantimes.com
Also, bmc polls are coming where Thackeray has been in power for 30 years. Bmc budget is more than that of most states in India.
Yup i just watched Guptaji analysis of it on the print.....he mentioned these BMC elections coming up as very crucial along with other salient points to this BJP power move on shiv sena.
