They want to put the Kalyani artillery on the back of a Humvee platform (AM General owns the original Humvee IP) to offer a combined solution. Kalyani has had this dream for a long time now:

Maybe they found a customer.

As the Quad continues to solidify its presence across the Indo-Pacific, India may soon be invited to join another key multilateral defence grouping focused on the South China Sea. The alliance in question, known as the ‘Squad,’ currently includes Japan, Australia, the United States, and the Philippines. The group now seeks to expand by inviting India and South Korea to become members.

Amid escalating tensions with China over territorial disputes, the Philippines and Japan aim to counter Beijing’s growing military assertiveness in the region. General Romeo S. Brawner, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, emphasized the strategic necessity of this alliance, noting that it would enhance deterrence against Chinese aggression.

As part of ongoing humanitarian assistance under ‘Operation Brahma’, the Indian Armed Forces have extended crucial support with relief materials to earthquake-stricken Myanmar by dispatching two naval ships and military transport aircraft.

In addition to aid being delivered via aircraft and ships, a field hospital comprising 118-member medical team of Indian Army departed to disaster-stricken areas to bolster relief operations.

India Set to Seal $200M Akash Air Defence Deal with Philippines

Philippines nears $200M deal for India's Akash missiles amid South China Sea tensions with China. Read more at Dynamite News

Philippines wants to buy Akash missile system from India

View attachment 74380

New Delhi: After acquiring BrahMos missiles in 2022, the Philippines is now in advanced talks to purchase India’s Akash surface-to-air missile systems in a $200 million deal, sources reveal.
This military cooperation highlights growing tensions in the region, as the Philippines increasingly turns to India for defense equipment amid its maritime disputes with China. The Akash system was specifically designed with China in mind, providing an affordable yet powerful deterrent capability.
While the deal appears imminent, officials haven't yet confirmed whether the Philippine Army, Navy, or Air Force will operate the missile systems.

The proposed sale represents a significant step in India's arms export ambitions and the Philippines' efforts to diversify its military partnerships beyond traditional allies.
It also signals Manila's determination to counter Chinese assertiveness in contested waters through enhanced defense capabilities.
The BrahMos deal already demonstrated this strategic shift, and the Akash acquisition would further cement the defense relationship between India and the Philippines.

This potential deal marks India’s growing arms exports and Manila’s shift away from reliance on traditional allies like the U.S. for defense needs.
