Indeed , they are together for many projects , earlier rf seeker were made by ampl too , involvement of ampl in uttam is not publicized but as per their performance i think trm module can be made by them .

All the above seeker are evolutionary development , the initial model didn't get to see production due to absence of platform or not showing required performance but the new ones will go on akash missile (ng ) , astra bvr series , nirbhay (most probably x band seeker ) , ka band will go on bmd , rest will be developed and deployed as per requirement .

Fun Fact : DRDO X BAND SEEKER HAS BEEN A CATALYST IN UTTAM AND VICE VERSA , THE TRM DENSITY OF SEEKER AND UTTAM MK2 ARE EQUAL .

Quite complex systems , have came across a few in past ,will try to find it back .

For basics they use interference phenomenon of em waves .

I could go to some length to explain.....maybe when I have more time.

In essence it is the algorithms you develop for the data handling (from the discretized transceivers that are effectively what TRM's are) that provide the spectrum of basic and advanced functions.

These are set by what computational power you can put into package... an AWACs would have more than a fighter, which would have more than drone/missile etc (When using AESA/PESA seekers)....and thus functions available (breadth and depth) commensurately decrease (in the aerial domain).

Original doppler radars did this all fairly analog way (given the input was not discretized...but rather analog block-input and needed little processing). Later dopplers took advantage of microchips, circuitboards etc to optimise this to high water mark for the doppler realm....but they are still mechanically steered and constrained by their raw + bounded amplitude noise and whatever the (monolith) antenna can handle as far as (radio) spectrum available.

Electronically scanned (i.e phased array) radars went one step further in the use of electronics. PESA was step one (still uses coherent monolith signal provider but varies spectrum in discretized way so it is spread out randomized-sequentially and thus is "Steered" electronically) ....and AESA is step two (each TRM acts as own signal provider and everything can be done simultaneously so to speak given the computation power).

But conceptually the process is the same for all, its just the intensity that differs (given the raw data form being produced by the sensor capability).

Steel cutting happened in 2016 and now it's almost complete , weighing more than 10000 tons .

What's so good about this ship .

This ship is the base for technology demonstration and testing for DRDO .

This ship won't just lay ground work for next gen ship of drdo especially the next gen destroyer and frigates but also help in mlu of existing fleet .

The radar placed on dual panel octagonal faces is Stated to be successor or mf star and will give ranfe above 500 km .

Those horizontal vls behind the mfr is called ship launching system (sls ) especially designed for tdv vessel so that they don't have to leave space below deck for vls for tech demonstration , can also be helpful in additional launcher on ships even though space below deck is low . The last aspect make it a preferable choice for addition on ships for bmd missile launch .

This ship will help to generate data for improvement and further rectification after which all subsystem tested will go to mega destroyer under consideration

Apparently, Bangalore-based electro-optics maker Tonbo Imaging (which also supplies Indian forces) has exported BNVD-P PANODS to an unnamed Israeli SOF unit:

"Tonbo has done thermal imaging-based upgrades for CRV (cavalry reconnaissance vehicles) in Jordan, advanced electro-optical targeting system for Philippines army. It has also provided thermal sights to Italian firearms manufacturer Beretta and panoramic night vision binoculars for special forces in Israel and night vision binoculars for special forces in France. Besides these international programmes, Tonbo is also supplying its thermal imaging scopes to the Indian special forces."

A consortium led by India's Larsen & Toubro (L&T) together with UK company Leidos Innovations (owns Gibbs & Cox naval architecture firm) is among the 4 consortiums awarded Competitive Procurement Phase (CPP) design contracts for the Royal Navy/Fleet Auxiliary's FSS (fleet solid support) ships by the UK MoD today.

The other 3 are:

Serco /Damen, which includes UK company Serco.
Team Resolute, which includes UK companies Harland & Wolff and BMT.
Team UK, which includes UK companies Babcock and BAE Systems.

Govt dissolves OFB, transfers employees and assets to 7 PSUs

Defence ministry has dissolved the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) with effect from October 1 and transferred its assets, employees and management to seven public sector units (PSUs), according to an official order.

As part of the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India) package, the central government had announced on May 16 last year that it would improve autonomy, accountability and efficiency in ordnance supplies by corporatisation of the OFB.

In an order dated September 28, the defence ministry said: Government of India has decided to transfer, with effect from October 1, 2021, the management, control, operations and maintenance of these 41 production units and identified non-production units to seven government companies (wholly owned by the government of India).
