You got a good review analysis by Economics Explained (which I have been following a while now). Good job Morocco!
Morocco is a country that moves at two speeds in certain sectors and fields, but not collectively as a state and people. While the monarchy is steadily modernising, the political, social, and economic progress, we have certain lobbyists in Morocco that are hindering our development. That is why the Moroccan nation wishes the royal family to establish complete autocracy with the king as the ultimate ruler of the country. The constitutional reforms given by the King to the government during the arab spring in 2011 allowed certain lobbyists to gain power, increase corruption, and hinder development.
Morocco needs a complete political change and reforms in all sectors in Morocco if we want our country to flourish. We want our country to move at two speeds in all sectors.
There are certain points that I want to mention based on the analysis made in the video.
•He mentioned that Morocco is on par with South Africa when it comes to the total production of vehicles in the automotive industry. This is false. Morocco produced a little over one million vehicles in 2025, with a localisation rate of 70%, while South Africa produced close to 600 000 vehicles with a localisation rate of 40%.
•He mentioned that we are just producing "engine parts". He failed to mention that Morocco has produced civilian engines for over a decade, aswell as conducting MRO. In the automotive industry, Morocco produced several variants of different engines in Morocco, and in the aerospace industry, we will produce PW engines and 350 LEAP-1A engines annually. Safran chairman mentioned that "We produce with Morocco, not in Morocco". Morocco has entered the stage of not only producing minor parts of aerospace engines, but also assemblying them, and producing them locally.
•He mentioned " Morocco lacks design, engineers, and local companies. Morocco is ranked number 1 on the African mainland when it comes to the Global Innovation Index (GII), but we are still lacking the political willingness to create indigenous companies. I agree that we lack local companies and designs when it comes to High-Tech Manufacturing. However i have to highly disagree that we lack engineers, when we have a very competent workforce in place in our local industry ( not to mention that Morocco is graduating around 25 000 engineers annually).
•He mentioned that Morocco has moderate GDP numbers. I would argue that the GDP numbers are incredibly low. On paper, Morocco has a GDP of 196 billion USD in 2026. I'm personally not convinced, but I will leave it for you guys to draw your conclusions. Let me provide you with some facts
-Export of goods and services: 86 billion USD, and imports of goods and services: 107 billion USD.
-Third-highest minimum wage in Africa after seychelles, and Libya.
-Highest monthly average salary in Africa.
- Top 3 most cash relient country in the world, with the informal sector accounting for 30% of the total economy.
-The most developed and longest motorways reaching 3000km in 2030 (Morocco ranks as the 16th country with the best road network in terms of density and quality of connections)
-The only country in Africa with high-speed trains, and a high-speed line reaching 600km in 2030.
-Morocco will have 3 deep-water ports in 2030 with the launch of the Nador port, and Dakhla port having an initial TEU capacity of 18 million TEU annually by 2030. This is almost the total capacity of the whole African continent combined.
- Third placein Africa with the biggest government budget in Africa of 83 billion USD. ( First- South africa 140 billion USD, and Second-egypt 90 billion USD).
-Second in Africa with the biggest allocated budget for public investment of 380 billion dirhams or 42 billion USD. (Double the budget of Egypt-Nigeria at around 18-22 billion USD)
