What about the public sector? Turkey can turn the world upside down if they managed to commercialise such chips

Does anyone have any news about it being used on the public sector?

That is what Iam talking about
I was asking whether Turkey was planning on producing them locally so that they can compete with tsmc Taiwan
Why do you think I said.... "they will turn the world upside down"

Lool those processors are not intel or AMD processors. They are industrial processors and they are not cheap compared to their commercially available counterparts. We do that because companies who sell us, processors, sell their products with trojan horses or we don't want to take that risk.

Tüyar company has a project to setup a FAB in Maleysia. Tübitak also has plans to expand YİTAL lab to increase production capacity.

It simply not possible to compete as we have very little in that area. Just the annual investment of TSMC is probably higher than all of Turkey.

Intel is looking for subsidies in the range of 10 billion €! to open a factory in Europe. On top of their own investments. Just to give some perspective. Hard to compete with the Asians. And the Chinese are still struggling to compete with Taiwan or Samsung. And they are throwing billions of euros at it.

There's potential for niche chips but even that requires significant amount of know how and money.

I remember talking with someone before our forum was established that we’d need some local production to not be entirely dependant on foreign delivery. I don’t know the scale we’re at. But if the norm is 100 mio. Pieces Then we’d beed aroun 8-15% domestic production.

Turkey seems to have 120nm process in house with Aselsan and Tubitak but this is nowhere near satisfactory. To be able to make entry level smart phones and chips that will drive a car 28nm process is the starting point. The Çakıl chip to be cast by the Taiwanese TSCM will be 65nm process. More efforts need to be made to produce consumer grade chips.

Investing in Cakil for domesic production as well should be prioritized.

Not just the processor, all other computing technologies and hardware|
Vestel have already invested in some cleanroom production capacity and instead of starting from scratch invest together with Vestel. And grow it bigger from there.

Many stock exchanges of economic powerhouses are foreign owned completely or at least partially.

And many of those "economic powerhouses" are under foreign political influence.

I am of the opinion that the state should own strategically important assets.

Sale of Türk Telekom was a fiasco and we should try to avoid such scenarios in the future.

I don't mind that at all. France still has a very high stake in all parts of the private sector. But that only works if the companies compete and don't get any favored treatments.

And this loan will have little or no contribution to CB reserves. It looks like we are avoiding the big picture here. We need cash, and it is urgent.

There is no way we will go too far under pressure of short term foreign loans. In the near past, the 30 to 40 billion dollars provided by travel industry would balance out the deficit quite a bit. You can see where we are devoid of this huge income.

It simply gets on my nerves that we are still debating whether or not Covid injection should be an individual choice. There is a clear warning here, if we fail to act fast, we are loosing this income for 2022 as well. Because most make their travel plans far in advance.
It actually doesn't matter since government isn't interested in correcting the economy, not at the cost of all their precious infrastructure projects. I'm not going to mention them here as we've already done that many times.
