Not such a bad choice to get out of a bad situation? I have no idea if it includes authority to integrate Turkish weapons . Does anybody know?

Expensive, certainly but weren't new F-16's going to be expensive, too?

For me price tag is secondary what I try to imply is having full control over a platform other than that totally satisfifed with EF since it is one of the best fighers in the sky, we need to wait for KAAN to achive full satisfaction I guess

According to this news, Qatar is trying to off load all 24 Typhoons in it's inventory.
We should either forget Oman's planes or add these to our purchase of 12.
These are the top dogs at the moment as far as Typhoons go.

We should also seize the opportunity while the offer is still valid – the F-16 is approaching the end of its technical service life. After Block 70, the US will only modernise the aircraft in exceptional cases, for example if safety-related problems arise. Otherwise, there will only be software updates before the series is gradually phased out.

The Americans plan to use the F-16 only for the defence of their home country in the future, while older models will continue to be used as unmanned "zombie jets".

The Eurofighter, on the other hand, is expected to receive hardware upgrades well beyond 2045 – I am convinced of that.

For the Turkish KAAN project, the Eurofighter in a customised version with national subsystems and Turkish precision ammunition would be the ideal high-performance partner.

If this is true (big if, I know), it would be insane to pass over those other 12 EFs.

But why are they trying to offload their airforce. Is it because the US jets are more than enough, or are they going to get something else ?

AFAIK, they haven’t been logging on flight hours EFs in general. They might have troubles maintaining and/or sustaining those planes considering they have other top of the line modern jets.
I remember hearing somewhere they’re aiming for F-35, but not exact of course.

If, we get those planes, Qatar won’t be a direct supplier but just a seller dumping off its excess inventory so, I don’t think that we should be worried about a future logistic blocking.

KC 135 will be around for a while but eventually we will need new ASENAs for now Flying booms may not cause a problem since adjustments are possible for EF

I, personally, wish we could do that.
When Spain’s Hürjet acquisition first came out, although never officially confirmed, there were rumors that Turkey would’ve taken extra Spanish A-400s from order line in exchange of Hürjets. But things have changed now and I can’t imagine them as a part of Hürjet deal anymore.
Nevertheless, you’re right. The fact that Spain doesn’t need those extra A-400s hasn’t changed.

description states USAF KC-135 so it could be / should be sufficient guess a matter of choice..... our KC-135R are upgraded to Block 45 (Pacer CRAG 45.1) around 2021? in order to keep them in service for next 15 years.

Welding technology on the EF is incredible. Obviously Typhoon has higher quality than F-16, Rafael and Gripen.

Somehow Russians even could get intelligence and hit airbases with supersonic missiles. So Anti-Balistik air defense capabilities of air bases is as vital as AESA radars of Typhoons.

Entire number of losses happened in air to air combat however air-to-air combats are not as frequent as we think. Air combats seem very rare.

So fighters are good and lethal but there are also important things.

As I said, we urges kinda Pac3 MSE Anti-Balistik SAMs.

"The project cost for the 20 newly manufactured Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft included in the procurement, the aircraft's mission equipment, and various types and quantities of ammunition is approximately 5.4 billion British pounds. Work is also continuing on the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to be procured from Qatar and Oman to meet the operational needs of our Air Force Command."

Confirmed by MSB now too. Robinson was the first to correctly call this I think.

5.4 billion GBP deal that was signed is for aircraft, weapons and presumably upgrading of Omani EFs, but not certain. Remaining 2.6 billion GBP is not yet signed and includes support and training.

None of these figures also include what or how we pay Qatar and Oman if those jets are purchased. This 5.4B fixed and up to 8B figure is for BAE workshare. I'm thinking some very interesting gmynastics were made re Qatar and Oman.

5.4 for aircraft and weapons, 2.6 for the yet to be signed support and training contract, No "contract" on the second hand jets yet, which doesn't really concern UK directly and it is possible that we will never see an open contract being signed with Qatar and Oman. That's not how any of the three countries really work.

So , over 10$ bn for 20 planes. 2.6 bn£ to train 40 pilots and lets say 400 crew????? I think that this dead will cost Turkey, together with second hand planes, well over 20bn . I f hope at least that for " training" they will use British airframes. If they use Turkish , it basicaly means 19 airframes. Probably, , they will use Omani airframes.
I hope that Turkiye avoids buying, even f needle from these B.
