According to this news, Qatar is trying to off load all 24 Typhoons in it's inventory.
We should either forget Oman's planes or add these to our purchase of 12.
These are the top dogs at the moment as far as Typhoons go.
But why are they trying to offload their airforce. Is it because the US jets are more than enough, or are they going to get something else ?

I mean relying on one deliverer is the problem we face

AFAIK, they haven’t been logging on flight hours EFs in general. They might have troubles maintaining and/or sustaining those planes considering they have other top of the line modern jets.
I remember hearing somewhere they’re aiming for F-35, but not exact of course.

If, we get those planes, Qatar won’t be a direct supplier but just a seller dumping off its excess inventory so, I don’t think that we should be worried about a future logistic blocking.

This, I was wondering myself. TurAF KC-135 tankers with Flying boom vs Typhoon probes!
Are we gonna get probe to drogue tankers? Or convert some of our A-400s into tankers which are already in limited numbers?
Spain has ordered more A400M than it wants, hasn't it? Could Turkiye take over slots?

KC 135 will be around for a while but eventually we will need new ASENAs for now Flying booms may not cause a problem since adjustments are possible for EF

I, personally, wish we could do that.
When Spain’s Hürjet acquisition first came out, although never officially confirmed, there were rumors that Turkey would’ve taken extra Spanish A-400s from order line in exchange of Hürjets. But things have changed now and I can’t imagine them as a part of Hürjet deal anymore.
Nevertheless, you’re right. The fact that Spain doesn’t need those extra A-400s hasn’t changed.

description states USAF KC-135 so it could be / should be sufficient guess a matter of choice..... our KC-135R are upgraded to Block 45 (Pacer CRAG 45.1) around 2021? in order to keep them in service for next 15 years.

Welding technology on the EF is incredible. Obviously Typhoon has higher quality than F-16, Rafael and Gripen.

BAE says its current fabrication work on the Typhoon is far from “metal-bashing”, citing the aircraft’s 98kg (216lb) canard as an example of its advanced manufacturing skills. The structure is made by diffusion bonding six sheets of titanium together at 950°C (1,740°F), with print patterns etched on each sheet later expanded by passing argon gas through the structure at 150°C in a super-plastic forming process. Requiring a total of 450 individual steps before completion, each canard is expected to last for the life of the aircraft, with one test example now in its second year of destructive test and having outlived its first test machine. “That’s at the strategic end of the market,” says hot form product manager Andy Shorthouse.

I would like to know your opinions, guys there is an aspect more important than fighters qualities and capabilities:

* In Ukraine, signifikant number of fighters were destroyed in airbases by missile attacks. The fighters werent flying. Somehow Russians even could get intelligence and hit airbases with supersonic missiles. So Anti-Balistik air defense capabilities of air bases is as vital as AESA radars of Typhoons.
Lesson: we urges Pac3 MSE

* Second, in Ukraine again significant number of fighters were destroyed by air defense systems. Not air to air combat. Fortunately, thank got we have own air defense systems.

Entire number of losses happened in air to air combat however air-to-air combats are not as frequent as we think. Air combats seem very rare.

So fighters are good and lethal but there are also important things.

As I said, we urges kinda Pac3 MSE Anti-Balistik SAMs.

PAC3s started to fail miserably against Russian missiles after EW updates.....

Statement from the Ministry of National Defense regarding Eurofighter

"The project cost for the 20 newly manufactured Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft included in the procurement, the aircraft's mission equipment, and various types and quantities of ammunition is approximately 5.4 billion British pounds. Work is also continuing on the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to be procured from Qatar and Oman to meet the operational needs of our Air Force Command."

British PM had already disclosed this deal total but people kept speculating anyway.
Confirmed by MSB now too. Robinson was the first to correctly call this I think.

"Clarification via BAE Systems of two figures mentioned (£5.4bn from BAE and 'up to £8bn' from No10) "The difference between £5.4bn [aircraft/weapons package] and the £8bn figure is for support and training activity, which will be contracted at a separate time."

5.4 billion GBP deal that was signed is for aircraft, weapons and presumably upgrading of Omani EFs, but not certain. Remaining 2.6 billion GBP is not yet signed and includes support and training.

None of these figures also include what or how we pay Qatar and Oman if those jets are purchased. This 5.4B fixed and up to 8B figure is for BAE workshare. I'm thinking some very interesting gmynastics were made re Qatar and Oman.

5.4 for aircraft and weapons, 2.6 for the yet to be signed support and training contract, No "contract" on the second hand jets yet, which doesn't really concern UK directly and it is possible that we will never see an open contract being signed with Qatar and Oman. That's not how any of the three countries really work.

So , over 10$ bn for 20 planes. 2.6 bn£ to train 40 pilots and lets say 400 crew????? I think that this dead will cost Turkey, together with second hand planes, well over 20bn . I f hope at least that for " training" they will use British airframes. If they use Turkish , it basicaly means 19 airframes. Probably, , they will use Omani airframes.
I hope that Turkiye avoids buying, even f needle from these B.
Oh that support? What spare parts does it include? I hope not , just some spanners.
Necessary but horrible horrible deal

Only the £5.4bn part is a firm deal, we are not a big fan of paying top dollars.
Other deals may follow like Hürjet or Kaan down the road, both countries have products to sell and money to buy.

i mean we're not just buying an aircraft but an entire system( infrastructure, spare parts, weapons) and much more. Its not fair comparing it to the F16 purchase. Tolga özbek made a good video why the price is so high

It's not 10 billion, its a bit over 7 billion if you convert it to dollars. And it is not insane, it is literally on par with previous deals other users shared here. And we are not just going to get "spanners" go check what exactly we wanted from yanks for F-16 deal, we will be asking spares and everything necessary to maintain and support the planes here ourselves. And, again, if the deal F-16 deal is any indication, we asked for fuck ton of munitions; I'm willing to bet most of it being Meteors.

We are trying to build an entirely new logistic and support system for EF here, and the price we were given tracks with other sales. This is just your "ohmygod Westoids are fucking us over!!!1!!1" speaking.
