There are many research articles, the problem is before Sisi they weren't getting enough funding, and were just writing papers without any funding. They are walking on a phased array radar most likely and probably other systems currently, and I hope they are getting whatever funding they want as this is a matter of national security.

The quality of the papers is to be taken into account rather than the mere quantity. The same is true of patents. Quantity means little; quality trumps quantity.

A system is being developed to detect the wavelength sectors being jammed. It allows the radar operator to switch bands because the system knows which ones are jammed and which are not.

Single frequency jamming is old school, novel systems are using frequency hopping-sweeping. Better if they start right from what is truly novel.

especially when you consider the very fact that AESA technology already migrated to electronic warfare equipment

Well, I guess it is still progress isn't it? This is only a beginning system not the final product.

Indeed, anything towards development is progress and should be appreciated.
When it comes to funding ,it is my worry that they may not receive sufficient amount needed for experiments and equipment facing claims of people from army and such.

Do you know anything about MIMO radars? Are they advanced? I checked their projects and it seems Egyptian researchers may possibly be attempting to manufacture one.

radars are not my field really, there should be someone who knows about it.

But i know mimo means multi input multi output which probably refers to multi radars connected as one, can receive each others reflection and differ and analyze it.
For my understanding a sufficient radar technology is needed for that. Can't tell much, but it is vital step and differs from radar fusion where images of radars merged into one for better resolution.
Probably it is in application only by a few countries and still far from large scale application.
Such a thing used in sonar tech and asw detection methods.

This paper presents a new design and implementation of a dual-channel intermediate frequency (IF) receiver for Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) System. The proposed IF receiver achieves the requirements of better sensitivity, wide dynamic range and low noise figure. The proposed IF receiver solves the big Problem in all IF receivers which named by the cross-talk between the dual-channel of mono-pulse receiver. The paper describes the issues and tradeoffs in the design and monolithic implementation of the recently mono-pulse IF receivers and proposes circuit techniques that can alleviate the drawbacks of this architecture. The investigation of how certain components error margin may affect the accuracy of a mono-pulse IF receiver. The IF receiver measures the angle of arrival of the incident signal by comparing sum and difference signals created in the receiver. The components of interest are low noise amplifiers, phase shifters and logarithmic amplifiers, where both can give individual and different errors depending on the antenna steering angle. A model of the receiver was made as close as possible for an ideal case using the ADS Software. The a dual-channel IF mono-pulse receiver for detection of multiple replies from targets is designed and implemented using the assembled prototype. The simulation, implementation and laboratory verification results for different test input are observed and analyzed for performance improvements mainly in secondary radar application such as detection of multiple replies from the target and decoding of data.

hope they focus on ammunition (cruise missiles - guided bombs - etc ) at first then going to the advanced things like radars and tanks !

Well apart of radar tech allows production of ammunition of Anti ship missiles, air to air missiles, surface to air missiles, anti-radiation missiles, etc.

as one of my friends say we live on the corporates era
every single piece of weapon contains parts made by other countries so they can control your own production
see the case of the turkish tank
see the case of selling scalp missiles to egypt
and i cant see solution for such thing

The only solution is to start now and pick the fruits later. There is almost no short-cut to these highly advanced products. Even if one has the money to pay for ToT, the selling party will almost never sell everything of the latest and greatest that they have.

Yes, either way you are using foreign parts if you buy abroad, or equipment you make in some parts, and import in others.

The solution is non-stop working and investment on tech. You should deepen the technology to the level of smees and small scale institutes. By this way, the sustainability of your products will be provided thanks to created eco-system when someone from outside want to apply an arm embargo. For exm, Roketsan is working with 1789 small scale Turkish institutes in sub-component level and number of them are rising at each passing months.This is what Turkey has been trying to do for engine sector for a while. The problem about Altay engine and transmission will be solved when Turkish institutes reveal their domestic turbo-diesel engines. They are proceeding from a safe path by using a proven core from a reliable engine institute and domestic 1500hp will be shaped around this expertize.

Researchpaper on development of Radar absorbing material, only absorbs 4 bands but nonetheless it is a good start.


The MMA structure exhibits four distinct absorption peaks at 2.248, 2.878, 4.3 and 5.872 GHz with absorption rates of 96, 93, 93, and 95 %, respectively, under normal incidence. This design achieves a negative permittivity and permeability that is applicable for S-band and C-band operating frequencies.

The proposed absorber structure can be used in different applications such as electro-magnetic protections, as well as military and medical applications

Unfortunately, I am not intricately familiar with the workings of the Egyptian military, which is said to control a significant chunk of the Egyptian economy through direct and indirect ownership of various civilian companies. Everything from pasta to appliances that the current state of Egyptian industry allows them to produce.

Therefore, I can not make any objective evaluation from a controlled press release alone. We will have to wait and see, I suppose, until more concrete evidence of prototypes or eventual production emerges.
