All NATO members except the United States have been invited to today's summit of military representatives in Paris.

Europeans should be careful, one day the Americans may side with Russia against them. When the USA and Russia were working together in Syria against Turkiye astute minds in europe should have questioned whether or not that could happen to them one day.

Collectively the EU has the potential to challenge the USA especially if Turkiye was in it, Russia as seen with their disastrous invasion of Ukraine is nothing compared to the USA. This may just be another case of "real politic" support the weaker enemy against the major one.

I agree, Turkey should not allow itself to be spun and ingratiated by the French and Germans. We have to act tough and on a purely utilitarian basis, we have the upper hand. Block formations are out, Turkey must be able to talk and act with everyone.

Honestly we can defend ourselves, we should if at all cooperate on trade & partly with the defense industry everything else is dangerous because we do not belong to it, and never will.

Yes and no!

Neither Ukraine nor Russia will trust any other country. Turkey is the only country that has good relations with both at such a high level.
But, unless a very solid truce and peace is in place, to be part of any peace mission in Ukraine is a non starter.
At the same time if we have the power and clout to stop the killing by getting involved in a peace keeping mission, it is our moral duty to both sides.

I think Turkey has been sold out; the government is taking full control of the border but rather is going to run the border gate alongside the SDF, and the SDF is going to exist as a separate entity, and Syria is going to be decentralised.

It is not convincing to me that Europe is so desperate.

In the blessed 90s, after the collapse of the USSR, almost all of these European countries and Russia began to sharply reduce military spending, armies began to shrink, and the development of new weapons ceased. Stopped completely. For example, the Russians, before the Georgian war (2008), did not develop anything new for almost 20 years, did not modify the old ones and even stopped producing them, but at the same time continued to sell weapons from the inexhaustible warehouses of the Soviets to their Asian and African clients. During these 20 years, the Russians developed the only new weapon - the Pantsir. Moreover, it was developed specifically for the UAE, with their own money.
In Europe, the situation was even more idyllic. All of these countries were engaged only in selling weapons, without producing anything. The prestige of military service fell to the level of the baseboard.

In 2008, the Russians began the first "State Rearmament Program". In 2017 - the second. Hundreds of billions of dollars were spent on these purposes. And even more was planned! The Europeans were fast asleep until the war in Ukraine started. It seems they didn't even notice it (Russia's rearmament).

To better understand the deplorable situation, imagine that Azerbaijan now has more tanks than France, Great Britain, Italy and Germany combined

In case you haven't realized, AKP only cares about staying in power right now. It's selling the events in Syria as a "strategic victory" to Islamists and pseudo-nationalists. Meanwhile, not sure if you've heard but Erdoğan has kicked off a new peace process with PKK, all to get more votes from the Kurdish population. This way it's a win-win and he won't risk further f*cking up the economy. In other words, don't expect anything good in Syria, yes we've been sold out, by our own leader.

It's not about being offended, I was offended on in the Internet 15-20 years ago))
It's about having a serious discussion. If you ask me,European elites are rubbing their hands with joy at the Putin-Trump excuse they've been offered, it's the perfect storm for them to implement their pan European (French-German dominion over Europe) agenda.
In defence of "European democracy" ,they can strengthen the EU' s leverage on nation states,use huge funds for rearming and,also,circumvent the US military complex while doing it,and push out( by very undemocratic means) any opposition.
Look at Romania,considered a total US servant .They've managed to outlaw a US backed, and pro Russian, if you ask me candidate. Despite US outcry of foul play, he was banned from the elections and will probably end up in jail.This shows that even most pro US countries in the EU will eventually follow only direct guiding from Brussels when push comes to shove,ignoring the Yanks.
Even Starmer is dragging the UK,stealthily but surely,back into a European framework.
And the masses are applauding and cheering cause....Trump, cause Putin. Nevermind that Putin would take atleast 3 years just to reach Kiev....nevermind Berlin.

Pure democracy is pointless. Most successful regimes around the world are more hybrid, some combination of democracy, oligarchy, aristocracy, bureacratic institutions and such. We use democracy as a word because its simpler for people who don't know anything about politics, but pure democracy isn't something to strive for, and any regime type is but a tool, the goal should be to improve the welfare and provide security and order to people, to safeguard essential rights. Rule of logic and reason, rule of law, separation and balance of powers is what makes correct and successful governance. Policymaking should be treated more like medicine honestly.

Hopefully, it doesn't get to a fight ,but I agree on cooperation in many fields, even with EU membership for Turkey, but that won't be possible.....not because Turkey is a Muslim majority country, but because Turkey is to nationalistic,wherever, the trend in Europe is towards a shared European value and heritage, hence a suprastate entity.Turks are to proud for that ,and they have their own horizons to look at, see Central Asia
