The more talk there is about ending military action in Ukraine, the more often Russian media have begun to blackmail Kazakhstan.
"Preparing for war: Kazakhstan to deploy the largest group of territorial defense brigades on the border with Russia"
The lower house of the Kazakh parliament has approved the draft law "On territorial defense" (TD). It implies the deployment of the largest TD group on the border with Russia, which will include at least eight brigades, in which foreigners can also serve. Moreover, the developers of the bill note that it can be perceived as Kazakhstan's preparation "for military action.
The Majilis (lower house of parliament) adopted the new law almost unanimously. As follows from the text of the document, the purpose of the bill is "to increase the defense capability of the Republic of Kazakhstan", as well as "to ensure the security of its population, facilities and territory during martial law and wartime."
For this, at least one TRO brigade will be created in each of the 20 regions of the country. The law does not specify the exact number of units, but it is noted that foreigners or stateless persons can serve in them as volunteers. For this, at the request of the country's Minister of Defense, they can receive Kazakh citizenship in a simplified manner.
Also, based on the bill, Russia is apparently perceived as one of the main potential threats to Kazakhstan and the majority of territorial defense brigades - eight out of 20 - will be deployed on the border with the Russian Federation. The Russian-Kazakh border is 8 thousand km long. is the longest land border in the world.
For comparison, only five brigades will be deployed on the border with Uzbekistan, another four on the border with China, and the rest will cover the border of Kazakhstan with Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
In addition, the forces of the TRO will have to participate in the "defense of designated lines, including in the border area of Kazakhstan", as well as in the "fight against the enemy's landing and sabotage and reconnaissance forces and terrorist groups", and in the event of "a temporary seizure (occupation) of territory by the enemy, to wage armed struggle against him" or, in other words, to become partisan detachments..."

The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan denies
"In connection with publications in a number of foreign media outlets concerning the draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Territorial Defense", the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan considers it necessary to provide official clarifications in order to prevent distortion of facts and unfair interpretations.
This bill is aimed solely at strengthening the country's internal security and does not contain any anti-Russian sentiment.
"Russia is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan, with which good-neighborly and allied relations are maintained within the framework of the CSTO, CIS, SCO and the Eurasian Economic Union.
Thus, the allegations about the allegedly anti-Russian orientation of the draft Law "On territorial defense" of the Republic of Kazakhstan do not correspond to reality and distort the essence of the ongoing processes.
We ask citizens and the media not to pay attention to various arguments appearing on information resources and social networks, but to trust official sources of information," the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan notes.
