The Chinese company Norinco showed footage of tests of the GL-6 active protection system for a tank. The GL-6 active protection system protects the tank from RPGs, ATGMs and loitering drones, although it is unlikely that the latter will happen. The system is similar to the Russian Arena-M and Israeli Trophy systems, but its protective mortars are not rigidly fixed and rotate. This solution allows to reduce the number of protective ammunition, but reduces the reliability of the system. A Type 99 tank was fired upon to test the protection. The shelling was carried out from the ground and from a UAV. The GL-6 active protection system itself is made in the form of a pair of two-charge rotating launchers and a radar station that monitors the situation near the tank. When threatened, the launchers turn towards the attacking grenade or ATGM and fire protective ammunition.
