Obviously it is not the Turkish Hürjet but still if the American trainer does not happen Turkish trainer can happen to America.

That's what I meant by "worked with TAI almost 10 years ago", there is nothing to indicate that this proposal has anything to do with Hürjet or TAI, or, we get anything out of it whatsoever. It is completely unrelated on the face of it.

SNC originally began development of the Freedom design in cooperation with Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI, and also abbreviated TUSAS in Turkish), but has been working on it independently for some years now.

Aircraft will be built by TAI in Turkey and modified by Airbus in Spain. Deliveries will start in 2028 with first units being ready for 2029-30 training period.


Signing of final agreement for export to Spain is expected in end of September or in October.
30+ Hürjets will be exported.
There will be three phases.
First phase is that TAI will build like 15-20 Hürjets without any changes to avionics (turkish avionics).
Second phase will be that the rest will be build with spanish avionics (i think he means too that the planes will be build in spain).
Last phase is that the previously build Hürjets, from the first phase, will get spanish avionics too.

Spanish document mentions aircraft being built in Turkey and then being modified to Spanish needs, rather than different blocks having different equipment.

One thing I like is that 45 number probably means Spanish acroteam Patrulla Aguila will be returning with Hürjets. They were finally retired after 40 years last June. Original mentioned number was up to 55 aircraft.

ALA23 is Spanish Air Force's main LIFT wing(like 121 Arı), majority would go there. GRUEMA is another training squadron, also acting like a reserve squadron. Aguila is the acroteam, while the CLAEX is the weapons and training test squadron, bit similar to our 401.

TEI Chairman Fahrettin Öztürk announced:

HÜRJET engine approval officially received
In his statement on the matter, Fahrettin Öztürk stated, "We had submitted engine permit requests to the US Congress for both the HÜRJET and the KAAN. We have received our engine permit for the HÜRJET, and it has been completed. As you know, that is the F404 engine," confirming that a significant obstacle has been overcome for the mass production phase of the project.

This development eliminates the uncertainty surrounding the integration and mass production of General Electric's F404 turbofan engines onto the HÜRJET platform.

Process continues for the KAAN project
It was emphasized that the process for the KAAN, a fifth-generation fighter jet project intended to be Türkiye's most strategic asset in the skies, is being closely monitored.

Öztürk stated that the Congressional approval process for the engines to be used in the mass production models of KAAN, which performed its prototype flights with General Electric F110 engines, also used in F-16s, is ongoing, and emphasized that the outlook is not pessimistic.


In this case, we will be able to see the Hürjet, Kızılelma and Anka 3 in the inventory in the coming years. He says that Kaan's engine is not a negative situation for the F110, the process is continuing ...

We only need 93% self reliance while we are at 83% now. We can use support to make another 10% progress.

I think the contract with Spain played a big role here too. Let's see if we can get engines for the armed version later too.

I mean most Muslim nations are from a technology perspective behind turkey there are some exceptions like Iran with its ballistic missiles program and that’s just because of the range of the missiles. Another would be Pakistan because of their nuclear weapons program but the moment we start our own nuclear weapons program we’ll get hit with sanctions.

If this announcement is being made by "TEI" chairman, then TEI is to produce these engines under licence. At least that will give good control over the engine supply.
I wonder if we can do a "Gokbey" on them and use these engines for larger Anka3 drones?

really? do u know military projects of other nations some less than 80 million ? Like S korea , Taiwan ?
