The first of a series of experimental T-34S tanks entered trials #OTD in 1942. These tanks were built to test a new commander's cupola and a 5-speed gearbox that improved the tank's mobility. While the gearbox was put into production, the cupola was not #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

Egypt received a number of tanks from the Soviet bloc, including a handful of IS-3s. The tanks were shown in the Independence Day parade #OTD in 1956, but used in battle only a decade later in the Six Day War. #tanks #history #ColdWar

A T-50 tank with the serial number K-11217 was lost #OTD in 1941 near Petrozavodsk. The tank was later recovered and used by the Finns with registration number Ps.183-1. This tank can now be seen at the Parola tank museum. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII
