LHDs Anadolu and Trakya can serve as UAV carriers. This way we can accomodate way more pieces of aircraft than with a fleet of all full size planes. We need to focus on making LHD capable winged and conventional take off aircraft and VTOL craft and maybe a small EMALS. The next phase we will need to look at is a pair of full grown Carrier Ships for Marine Hurjet and Marine MMU. The size of the Carriers need to be a bit larger than the QE class because of the lack of VTOL fighters. EMALS and marine turbine engines are within our capabilities as we are also developing EM Cannons which is presumably based on the same technologies. And because TRmotor is already working on a fighter engine which has high commonality with a marine turbine engine.
An all new special TB3 has to be built. Since neither Anka, nor Aksungur , nor Akinci can be stationed on this ship the only UAV that will be suitable is one like a TB2 with a more powerful engine and more robust build that would carry heavier loads (anti ship missiles) and have a bit more wing area enough to enable it to take off easily but not to interfere with it’s RCS.
Or wait until our carrier operable jetUAV becomes available.
I do not think we should be looking at full fledged carriers at this stage. They are too expensive to build and to maintain for a country like ours as well as being more difficult in protecting. Number of ships these carriers take out of your warrior fleet in to protection duty is just not feasible. As the Russian defence minister has put it; “We do not need carriers. But to build missiles that would sink those carriers”.
I still put my money on a Hypersonic Bora missile that can hit moving targets from a distance of 500+ Km.. (As mentioned by Mr Cabatli in Pakistani Defence Forum on Oct 8th 2019 )
