If posting just link, its just best to use an existing thread

If an effective vaccine is not released just in time and in very big large numbers, I am afraid mass deaths will begin in India. The ridiculous anti-vaccine prejudices in Indian society also makes things very difficult. God bless the innocent.

There is now provably not a significant anti-vax crowd in India like found in West...and the recent 10 million vac/day rate reached illustrates it (and drive to full population coverage by end of year).

You will be happy to read the recent replies above and also watch first part of this vid, especially from around 7.30 to 10.00 here:

There are antivaxxers here. I know of a few personally. They are no insane like the Americans who believe that Bill Gates is using nano chips to track them through the vaccine. But they refuse the vaccine. I would say that 5-6% are hesitant but if made compulsory for travel and use of public utilities, they might come around.

In our part, only a certain minority community people are hesitant...but then there are certain uneducated people as well who think that vaccinated people are more prone to die due to covid😂

Literally came across a poor lady who thinks that those vaccinated won't live beyond 65 years of age.

Yeah but at one point, people were fearing large % of population, like more than 20 or 30% even.

It is good the total anti-vax seems to be less than 10 %.

Herd immunity (with large vaxxed population) will do most of the job in protecting whole population (incl anti vaxxers).....I don't see need to go draconian on them....and drive away portions of the more reluctant population by doing so.

New Delhi, September 17

India set a record on Friday by administering over two crore Covid-19 vaccine doses, in a major push to the inoculation drive on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

The cumulative doses administered in the country reached a record 2,27,67,530 crore doses by 10.30 pm.

Against a targeted record of 2.5 crore daily Covid doses—set for today—the government on Friday crossed 1 crore daily doses post noon for the fourth time and set a new record by 2.30 pm.

The current Indian record is of administering 1.33 crore doses a day although the one crore mark has been crossed twice earlier.

The ruling BJP and the government aimed to scale up Covid inoculation to record highs on Friday with several states ruled by the party pledging to create new highs with inoculation today.

India has already picked up vaccine pace having administered more daily doses than 18 major nations combined on the crucial indicator of daily doses.

Earlier, National Health Authority CEO RS Sharma, who oversees COWIN vaccine tracker, said, “Celebrating the relentless efforts of India’s vaccinators against Covid, we have added a ticker to show vaccinations happening in near real-time. We are currently clocking over 42,000 vaccinations/minute or 700/second.” — with PTI

India says it will resume Covid-19 vaccine exports next month
Story by Reuters

Updated 0454 GMT (1254 HKT) September 21, 2021
Covid-19 vaccines manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and provided through the global COVAX initiative arrive at Mogadishu airport in Somalia.
Covid-19 vaccines manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and provided through the global COVAX initiative arrive at Mogadishu airport in Somalia.
(CNN)India will resume exports of Covid-19 vaccines in the October quarter, prioritizing the global vaccine-sharing platform COVAX and neighboring countries first as supplies rise, the country's health minister said on Monday.

India, the world's biggest maker of vaccines, stopped exports of Covid shots in April to focus on inoculating its own population as infections exploded.
The country's monthly vaccine output has since more than doubled and is set to quadruple to over 300 million doses next month, minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, adding that only excess supplies would be exported.
Total production could top 1 billion in the last three months of the year as new vaccines from companies such as Biological E are likely to be approved, he added.
"We will help other countries and also fulfill our responsibility towards COVAX," he told reporters.

Reuters reported last week that India was considering restarting exports of Covid-19 vaccines soon. It donated or sold 66 million doses to nearly 100 countries before the export halt.
The announcement on resumption of exports in the October to December quarter comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington this week where vaccines are likely to be discussed at a summit of the leaders of the Quad countries -- the United States, India, Japan and Australia.
India wants to vaccinate all its 944 million adults by December. So far, it has given at least one dose to 64% of adults and two doses to 22%.
India's inoculations have jumped since last month -- especially as the world's biggest vaccine maker, the Serum Institute of India, has more than trebled its output of the AstraZeneca shot to 200 million doses a month from April levels.
Indian companies have set up the capacity to produce nearly 3 billion Covid vaccine doses a year.
