The Indian Air Force, in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is developing a real time aircraft tracking system (RTATS) that will be retrofitted in its transport fleet.
The technical specifications for the system have been framed by ISRO and the development and fabrication of the prototypes would be done by the industry, according to IAF sources. The trials and evaluation would be done by the IAF on AN-32 aircraft at one of its bases

JAISALMER: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has started preparations for landing fighter planes on the national highways.

In an initial trial, the Air Force on Friday landed two fighter helicopters between Gandhav and Agdava in Chitalvana area in Jalore on the runway made under Bharatmala project. Officers of IAF and NHAI along with Jalore police administration were present and had made strict security arrangements.

ZHUKOVSKY /Moscow Region/, July 21. /TASS/. Russia has handed over a commercial offer to India for the delivery of 21 MiG-29 fighters, Spokeswoman for Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Valeria Reshetnikova told TASS at the MAKS-2021 international air show on Wednesday.

"The Indian Air Force Staff has sent a tender inquiry for the delivery of 21 planes in 2021. The Russian side has delivered its commercial offer to the Indian partners, and the customer is now examining it," the spokeswoman said.

The Times of India reported in January that India planned to purchase 21 MiG-29 light fighters and 12 Su-30MKI fighter aircraft from Russia. The purchase of the batch of MiG-29 fighters would boost the number of these aircraft in the Indian Air Force to 59. The purchase of Su-30MKI combat planes would increase the number of these aircraft in the Indian Air Force to 284, the paper said.

The MAKS-2021, one of the world’s top three air shows, is running in the suburban town of Zhukovsky outside Moscow on July 20-25.

MIG'S are on way out except for MIG 29 . SU stays as it is. they are in process of getting avionics upgrades.

Russian Migs are very old and unreliable, although still capable of taking out an F16 as happened in Feb 2019. They will he phased out though. Eventually the idea is to have indigenous aircraft only but we are a few years away from achieving that.

its a air superiority fighter aircraft of Russian origin capable of attaining max. speed of 2445 km per hour (Mach-2.3). It has a combat ceiling of 17 km. It carries a 30 mm cannon alongwith four R-60 close combat and two R-27 R medium range radar guided missiles. So if Su can do Air dominance roles, MIG Fills in the role of close combat ops...

Rafales will primarily be filling the void left by retirement of MiG-27 & older variants of Jaguar as Strike aircraft.

I'm thinking they will also take over the Nuclear delivery role from the Mirage-2000, considering Rafale is currently the most survivable aircraft in the inventory.
