Arad over Tavors anytime...it's about time our SF move away from bullpups. I'd prefer they follow the Turks and induct something indigenous like SSS Defense but the Israeli lobby has engrained deep into the Indian acquisition committees and now coupled with the Adani group who happens to be BJP govt's prime sponsor and benefactor, it's extremely hard even for IN (who leads indigenous efforts) to get away from the clutches of Israeli-Adani combo
I'm at least glad the Arads and almost all Tavors procured by SF post 2015 have been produced in India with majority of the raw materials also sourced locally

Sure hope so - the ARAD being a short-stroke piston would make a neat replacement for the direct-impingement Colt M4A1s and especially the older TAR-21s.
Place of origin shouldn't matter when it comes to equipping SOFs - they should get the best there is, period. If Russian FSB & SSO have no qualms about using HK417s and EOTechs, why should you?
SOFs are comparatively few in number. So most of the reasons why you would want local production/IP ownership (which essentially comes down to economies of scale) don't apply to SOF equipment.
Equipment for the regular infantry is a whole different ball game however, and I'm with you on that. Going for AK-203s is stupid.

I agree when it comes to Marcos but when IA merged regular Para units with SF, they effectively destroyed the concept of SF in the army and IA doesn't hesitate killing any indigenous project for foreign weaponry. If the positive reviews about M72 are to be true, I'd rather have Paras procure those hoping it'll eventually trickle down to other active units in the valley like RR or JKP SOG to start with and those in NE
Checkout the pictures released from any CI/CT ops in recent times where a Para SF unit is deployed and no two operators look alike with variations in gear. Some of the AKs' they're carrying look like beatdown ones captured from terrorists in previous ops. While Garuds are relatively better standardized, they're poorly trained and I doubt if the IAF even knows what exactly their role is apart from being glorified airbase security which begs the question if we have a true SF unit apart from Marcos & NSG at this time since not much is known about SG or SFF in public domains. Until IA and IAF decide to completely reform their respective SF, define and train them for their specific roles while equipping them accordingly, it doesn't matter what gear they carry until then

Palau Flagged MV Islander caught fire after an attack by likely drone/ missile 22Feb 24. Responding swiftly to the distress call, IN's destroyer on MaritimeSecurityOperations in the Gulf of Aden arrived on location afternoon 22Feb 24. Indian Naval EOD specialists embarked the MV, sanitized it for residual risk & cleared it for onward transit. Medical assistance also provided to injured crew member.
