Describing defense as a key pillar of bilateral relations, Yoon said the two countries jointly celebrated the successful first test flight of the KF-21 advanced supersonic jet fighter earlier this month. Indonesia refers to the project as IF-X.

"The two countries reaffirmed their intentions to continue to cooperate so that the joint development of next-generation fighters can proceed smoothly until the very end," said Yoon.

He didn't elaborate further on if there had been discussion on Indonesia's overdue payments for the joint KF-21 project, also dubbed the Boramae.

Yoon's presidential office said in a statement, "The two countries are accelerating defense cooperation by jointly developing the next-generation KF-21 fighters."

Newest reports from DAPA during the hearing in 398th national assembly Defense Committee:

There was no actual progress since the agreement was reached the last November. Also no progress on what the Indonesian barter would be and how it will be transferred(quantification, valuation, if it's a commodity, how it will be transacted etc.).

During the recent visit of president Jokowi, the Indonesian side came up with the request to set up a working-level negotiating body. DAPA has agreed and is working on it. Indonesian due payment up until now is $700 million in terms of pre-Russian invasion exchange rate or $610 million on current exchange rates.

The first part is quite discouraging, to say the least. The second part, on the other hand, gives more hope, especially since the Indonesian government/administration seems to be more committed now. I guess the first flight and the clarification regarding the prototype have reinforced the supporters of the program within Indonesia.

Hopefully the situation would get better with actual working-level progress by the end of this quarter

on the side note: I've seen a lot of Indonesians on internet saying that the Indonesian financial contribution to the program amounts to $2 billion. That never was the case. Even in pre-Russian invasion exchange rates, it was always less than $1.5 billion. Now, since the dollar has become very strong, it's only around $1.3 billion. Although such bullish dollar exchange rates also applies when exchanged with the IDR, case in point, the payment isn't as expensive as some people are trying to make out.

Man this guy.....when officials say they want something it doesnt translate to Indonesia wants it. Thats misleading to say the least.
Yes there are some wish list from military branch, but that has to be studied, discusse and prioritized before it went to "pengajuan".....
