Indonesia remains committed to continuing KFX/IFX cooperation with Korea

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense stated that it remains committed to continuing cooperation in developing the KFX/IFX fighter aircraft with South Korea.

“This is cooperation between countries and a national priority program. "As for the state program, whoever the government is, it must continue," said the Director of Defense Technology and Industry, Directorate General of Defense Potential, Ministry of Defense, First Marshal TNI Dedy Laksmono in a workshop organized by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) in Jakarta, Friday.

He made this statement in response to the issue of stalled payments on Indonesia's cost share commitment for the KFX/IFX project, even though according to the initial agreement in 2014 Indonesia was charged 20 percent of the total cost of developing the fighter aircraft.

Meanwhile, KAI Indonesia Office Chief Representative Officer Woo Bong Lee said that the Korean side had allocated as much funds as possible to continue the KFX/IFX project.

“We have increased the budget as much as we can get, even by borrowing money from the bank. "Now we are waiting for the money to come from the Indonesian side," said Lee.

He hopes that the governments of the two countries can immediately find a middle way to overcome this funding obstacle, so that the partnership between Korea and Indonesia can continue to be maintained.

“In our opinion, the Korean government will not take a bad decision on this issue. "And as far as I know, the Korean and Indonesian governments are still discussing this issue to find the best solution," he said.

Because like i said before ....big honchos feel dissatisfied with the current situation ... It's never about the Indonesian financial capability . Contrary to what other might want to believe . When pakde are committed fully .. Mbok suryani will wring her head try to keep up with pakde demands ...

He's a weird guy who pretends like he's Japanese but is obviously Korean (and he's not hiding that either, which is even weirder) and even seems a bit chauvinistic time to time. Worse, he often gets his facts wrong concerning Korean weaponery and defense industry. What this guy says doesn't really matter.
From what I‘ve seen he seems to be a long-term Korean resident in Japan (재일 한국인?). According to him he has done mandatory military service in ROK.

His infos about ROK defense is often dubious, factually wrong or overhyped. Typical mil twitt account seeking attention with „news“ whatsoever.

Is fighter development know how really what we need?
AFAIK, PT DI isn't planning to develop fighter jet anytime soon.

That Sikatan thing?
Nah... I don't think air force has any interest on it.

Because there is some ambitions to develop such thing, although not accompanied with serious funding.

Heck even attack helicopter too:

But sadly its still beyond our capability and wallet (the money is still possible but it will hurt our wallet and stir too much trouble to spend billions of dollar for such ambitious program, its preferable to build infrastructure etc.).

By joining other it won't burden our wallet too much, although we also can't get much.

How about manufacturing instead so we could get into their logistical chain?

in my opinion, Sokor want us learn step by step than licensed it with more money to invest ...cmiiw

thats us dont want it from the start, we want advanced technology, so can improve more skill in the future

in the past our team not put detail spesific item on aggrements, just joint to build the plane, that why just learn by see or doing in progress

Technologies required to design fighter jet structure and aerodynamics =/= technologies that could only be used to develop fighter jets.

How will you get into KF-X supply chain without being a program partner?

We're not program partners anymore?
Indonesia still is, and although you don't seem to know, they were planned to be part of the KF-X IF-X supply chain partner. I've explained it literally in the last page.

It's just that Indonesia threw that opportunity away by not paying. Simple as that.
