Start the "gorengan"
We have no choice, for a post 2030 battlefield environment anything less than the F-15EX is considered obsolete.

Post 2030 air warfare will be fought with 5th gen fighters. Other air force has ready access to 5th gen fighters, we are not.

What alternative does the writer have in mind?

I assumed the article was based on this: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/the-f-15ex-program-is-in-trouble

Q: Logistical-wise, how different is the F-15EX from the SA, QA, and previous variants including those operated by Singapore, Japan, and Israel? I don't think there will be any serious sucad issues in the future as long as hundreds of eagles remain in service in these countries

CMIIW, even if USAF cut its order, F-15 will still remain one of the most produced and currently in service western made jet fighters in the world (probably the third after F-16 and F-18). Hence, I don't think the logistical situation will be better either if we choose other western made (yup, let us be realistic and forget about any Chinese or Russian made fighters for now) twin-engine fighters which are even less numerous

Flanker families including Chinese offshots is one of the most numerous Heavy fighter in the world surely after F15 families, but lately the number of Flanker family including their bomber cousin is depleted in number....

Kinda weird tho, big fightrr jet such Flanker have smaller payload than smaller Rafale.

Yeah, make some notice why Rossian itchy to use their Flanker while they have active duty in Syiria.

Yeah, make some notice why Rossian itchy to use their Flanker while they have active duty in Syiria.

Flanker has larger internal fuel tank though, resulting in much more range activity even compared to the F15, the difference is about 2700 liter maybe more according to the Type. Meanwhile F 15 able to offset them with conformal fuel tank and external fuel tank pods.

Russian Air Force has some serious brain drain as people prefer to go to commercial airline compared to the air force when their benefit is very limited. Compared to what Turkey, Royal Air Force or USAF experience over the same issue, the Russian Air Force problem is much more deeper. That's why they are stretched thin all over the theater, even Goes far with allowed some overweight people to handle the cockpit
