with 1.6 bil usd, how many AEW can we get?
Depend on which AEW&C we choose.

SAAB GlobalEye seems to have price of $350-500 mil each

"Valued at 7.3 billion Swedish Krona ($711 million), the agreement requires the company to deliver two GlobalEye aircraft by 2027."

"The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defence has expressed interest to buy two additional GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft from Saab.
The company stated that the potential order is expected to be worth around $1.018bn."

UAE seems to be really in love with this system, they already purchase 2 system in 2015, then additional order of 1 system in 2017, and another 2 system considered lately, making it total of 5 system will be operated by UAE AF.

The Boeing 737 E7 Wedgetail cost around $700-800++ mil each.

"Boeing has been awarded a not-to-exceed $1.2 billion undefinitized contract for the U.S. Air Force’s E-7A rapid prototype program, which is managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Under the deal announced this week, the company will develop and produce two E-7 development aircraft, paving the way for series production. The initial work associated with this contract is due to be complete by August 2024."

"despite the newer decision to only acquire three aircraft, the procurement report estimates that the E-7 program will cost £1.89 billion ($2.5 billion), "

SAAB GlobalEye and Boeing E7A Wedgetail both have their own advantages and drawbacks, Boeing benefited greatly from the ease of maintenance and superior for air watch, SAAB offer more than that, despite using very different and unfamiliar system, the system provide more complex sensors and cheaper in cost compared to E7A.

So by this, $1.6 bil roughly we could get 3-4 GlobalEye, depending on what other programmes include within. Or we could get simply 2 E7A, which itself is looks good if paired with F15s. :)

Well, the good news is US also plan to procure a huge number of E-7 Wedgetail (up to 26) to replace their aging E-3 Sentry. I hope we also can procure E-7 Wedgetail just like F-15 EX and get a discount rate cause of the economics of scale?

Still, as far as economic of scale goes, the cost for each system won't drop that significantly that could match on par with GlobalEye's current highest price, maybe.

I personally prefer GlobalEye, besides it's cost is by default lower than E7A, (we could get 2 GlobalEye in same price of single E7A), the system is also the fusion between pure Erieye AESA radar system with Leonardo Maritime Radar belly, it could perform well as AEW&C, also could take role of overpriced MPA.

It is also smaller in size, means more efficient with fuel and could land on more number of airfield that B737 can't.

What are we gonna do with unused APG 68v9 ?
Wait what? only the 10 F-16A/B will be upgraded to Viper standard. Isn't that dumb? The eMLUs are already very capable while the 23 Block 52ID are way behind and they intend to make it stay that way.

He said just for first batch, maybe there will be next.
Maybe available budget can only go for AM/BM first.

Because they are newly updated so less systems to be upgraded, less time to finish the work, and most importantly less money 🤣.

Also no need to do Falcon Star.

Give them some slack, they spend a lot for new toys these days.

[Exclusive] UAE: “We will pay for Indonesia’s investment in Korean-style fighter jets”

If the UAE 's proposal becomes a reality, a trilateral cooperation system between Korea, Indonesia , and the UAE will be established for the KF-21 project, which may speed up the project.
