Fighter of the Global South (geopolitically, not geographical).
The Rafale has been surprisingly dominant against the Eurofighter and American 4.5 gen fighters in competitions recently.
This is despite it on paper not really being a standout in performance against other western 4.5 gen fighters.

I guess the French all round package is just very well put together and they are more accomodating than other countries.

Finally, the replacement for F-5.

Although technically 14th Squadron ended up getting F-16. I still consider the Rafale as F-5 replacement.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government has paid off the purchase of 42 Rafale fighter jets divided in three terms. Nevertheless, the first new units will arrive in the homeland in early 2026, since it will take time to produce the advanced 4.5-generation fighter aircraft.

“The first Rafale aircraft will arrive in Indonesia at the beginning of 2026,” said the head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Defence (Ministry of Defence) Brigadier Edwin Adrian Sumantha in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/1/2024).

The Rafale warplane, he said, would arrive in Indonesia along with its armaments and supporting devices. All the new war tools are expected to significantly increase the strength and readiness of the AU military in maintaining the sovereignty of the country in the air.

In line with the government’s commitment to bolster national defense, particularly in meeting the armed forces’ equipment needs, the Indonesian Air Force is undergoing a significant modernization of its Air Defense Equipment, including aircraft, radars, and air defense weaponry. Indonesian Air Force has already received various aircraft, such as Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircrafts, H-225M Caracal tactical transport military helicopters, and CN-212i transport aircrafts. The next additions to their fleet include the Rafale fighter jets and the heavy transport aircraft Airbus A400M. The introduction of the Airbus A400M heavy transport aircraft is poised to elevate the capabilities of the Indonesian Air Force.

Indonesian AirForce is gearing up for the arrival of two Airbus A400M transport aircraft in the coming months, following the signing of the procurement contract by the Indonesian government in late 2021. Indonesia is set to become the 10th nation to deploy the A400M, with the purchase agreement including comprehensive maintenance and training support packages. The Letter of Intent also outlines the potential acquisition of four additional A400M aircraft in the future, bringing the total to six A400M units in TNI AU’s operational fleet. This strategic move reaffirms Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining a robust and capable air defense force, poised to meet the challenges of the evolving geopolitical landscape.

Dissurpotrud (Survey and Aerial Photography Service) which has 1 star marshal as a commander is diajukan to be commanded by 2 star marshal and widen and changed the name with Pusgeospasial something, Geospatial Center.

NGA with Indonesian Characteristics, minus (almost) on demand datas (intels) from available surveillance satellites.

Edit:
But wait, don’t be too fast. This is still diajukan by TNI to Kemhan. Heard also Dankormar become 3 star and Danpuspomad lower to 2 star again. I heard that 3, don’t know about the else.
