Even after China rising as a equal rival this uncle sam still think it can dictate everything what it want.
By 'standard' of geopolitical balance US supplying singapore and australia with the best of the best mean while it refuse to sell the things what we need. Not include complicated process and burdensome terms. Ptuiiihhhhh💢
for F-35 well its too early for us to operate that, our C2 infrastructure is lacking so does our support plane, if we don't sort out the infrastructure and support needed then the jet basically flying half blind.

it also need to connect to US F-35 server to operate it, if not then it cannot fly and i don't think that would sit well with our politician.

Bold: Soo, it has DLC. Hopefully the USAF won't follow EA path.

Joke aside, I do think it's better if we don't buy the F-35. We should focus on strengthening TNI-AU with a lot more 4 - 4,5 gen combat aircrafts first as well as improving our radar network including adding AEW aircrafts rather than buying a small number of stealth planes which will likely be more expensive to operate and maintain.

here the paper that i found on the web about the system.
it mainly use for maintenance but from what i understand from the paper that it said the jet can only operated without connecting to the server for at least 30 days then the jet cannot fly (or not function perfectly).

Yup. Thanks for more info.

It only convinces me more that we're really better off without F-35.

Hi All, new member but been a silent reader for quite sometime. Hope to be able to learn and contribute.

I don't think KFX is designed with sustained supercruise capability, though the Block III will use IWB and would have reduced drag and can go faster I still don't think it have supercruise capability, still possible for a short period with after-burner just like the other.

IIRC, KFX/IFX is designed to have supercruise capability. There's an old article (2019) covering 5th gen fighters in Asia that mentioned about this.

https://asianmilitaryreview.com/2019/05/aspiring-to-fifth-generation-fighters/

Interested to see how the KFX/IFX drama will end. If indeed our Mindef decide to attend the launch ceremony, then it could be a sign we are continue to be in. However, there is yet strong indication/response from Mindef on Prabowo attending. So will have to see...:)

Jet fighter remain operational as long as your jet has an internet connection every 30 days.

Just like my Youtube apps then.

At the same time, would any air force be able to operate its fighters very well for any significant amount of time if sanctioned from spare parts by the OEM?

Some countries can follow the foot step of Iranian to maintain their F 14 planes despite long embargo from US if they have the capability or eager to build their capability in fighter jet technology. Engine block for instant will last quite long, we just need to produce some components that need to be replaced regularly.

TNI AU has a LOT to learn and a LOT of evolution in mindset, maintenance and support if they want to use F-35 or any 5th gen platform properly. The day TNI AU has achieve parity with RSAF or RAAF, that is the day that TNI AU is ready to operate F-35 or any 5th gen platform

Hmm...
Actually I doubt it, we are likely preferring H22M

i wonder why TNI still put order of H220M to PTDI, is it any difference of quality of Helicopters made by PTDI and Airbus ?
