I still can recall few years back there was talks between South Africa's Paramount and Pindad. Unfortunately, no deals came out. IMO, Paramount is much better teacher to master MRAP and other armored vehicles. Their products are some of the best in the world.

Paramount Group deepens cooperation with Indian partner Bharat Forge Ltd.

The Mbombe 4 armoured vehicle from South Africa-based Paramount Group is to be manufactured in India, under a new agreement with Kalyani Group subsidiary Bharat Forge Ltd.

Paramount and Kalyani already work together in a JV to market a version of the mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle in India, where it is known as the Kalyani M4.

‘It is intended that the Kalyani M4 will see service with the Indian Armed Forces in the very near future,’ Bharat Forge announced in a statement on 22 February during the IDEX defence and security exhibition in Abu Dhabi. However, no details were given of planned production volumes.

Earlier this month, unconfirmed reports from Indian defence media indicated that the Indian Army has already ordered 200 Kalyani M4s.

In 2020 the Mbombe 4/Kalyani M4 completed rigorous trials near Ladakh in India, where it was joined by the Maverick APC from Paramount and the Werewolf mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle from Namibia-based Windhoeker Maschinenfabrik.

The United Arab Emirates is the launch customer for Mbombe 4, having ordered four vehicles in 2019.

Indeed. It probably because of weight and recoil consideration. While 30 mm cannon is arguably more than sufficient for riverine or littoral patrol, but I still hope that the 105 mm cannon version is still being planned considering that it can also be used as artillery.

It is the first time that Belgian company CMI Defence adapts one of its turrent for a naval application. Talking to Navy Recognition, Jean-Luc Maurange explained that the biggest challenge was not the stabilization of the turrent but rather its navalization. To adapt the proven Cockerill 3105 high pressure 105mm weapon system (already fitted for example on 8x8 IFV), CMI had to apply an anti-corrosion coating, fit additional sealing gaskets and use marine specific cables and connectors.

While it depends on the sea state, but I assume that as long as the sea is not too rough the gun stabilizer can take care of it.

That is, of course, if the 105 mm version is not cancelled.

I am more into using this to support beach head ops, 105 mm will be useful for fire support taking out enemy position and armored vehicles, and yup it can be used as artillery to support our troops a bit farther from the coastline and deeper inland, more practical than carrying 105 mm arty using kappa or copper.

How many unit will be built? There's another one still unfinished at the back, maybe this one will be equipped with 105 mm? And they will evaluate both and decide which one is the best.

30mm is fine, but if we can get it use 105mm than it would good or atleast 90mm one.

maybe in the future (atleast in my imagination) we can adapt it to use thales rapidfire. it got added bonus as an air defence platform

That's what I think as well.

I recalled when the mock up was first revealed back in Indo Defence 2016, there were some who argued that the tank boat concept is flawed and that it doesn't has its place within our Navy or Army at all. While it might be true that the concept is new, but from the way I see it, I think it will provide with much flexibilities and new tactics to explore.

Anyway, the name "tank boat" should not be regarded as similar as "land tank" since I think that the armor protection will not be as good as even the MMWT. In combat, it probably well suited for hit and run tactic by using its speed to make attack passes especially against well armed opponents.

Now imagine if they will also develop other versions like adding 70 mm rocket launchers (with or without laser guidance) to the 30 mm turret version, or anti aircraft turret / CIWS complete with radar, or a version specifically for electronic warfare, etc...

In my imagination, their deployment can be something like combined armor spearhead where a group of different versions of tank boats move together to support one another. But instead on land, this one is on the sea,
