this is why our AL can't get good stuff :):):):)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INDUSTRY.co.id - After the sinking of the KRI Nanggala, the Ministry of Defense plans to "modernize" the TNI's defense equipment. It was reported that Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto had signed a contract to purchase 8 Maestrale class frigates.

he wish for maestrale to carry a blackshark torpedo ......... even all modern frigate use triple tube
324mm standad for anti submarine torpedo

8 Maestrale class frigates??? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
That article and the said media loss all credibility at the mention of 8 Maestrale class. While the said source loss his credibility at the mention of using Blackshark (Heavyweight Torpedo) out of surface vessel. But its seem the Soviet style naval warfare line of thinking still prevalence. No wonder we kept seeing this even in this forum the notion of using heavyweight torpedo out of surface vessel (which tactically made little sense and complicate maintenance & logistic)

Hold your horses brotther

I think I have posted before Nanggala accident (I took a break after the incident) about how we going to push the ceiling up to $40 bil, again its an affort or simply a try to overcome those many old assets that it going to be retired soon. That approved $20 bil is just a start or in my perspective its "normal" foreign Loan allocation for 4 years period. Why? as I said before the average foreign loan yearly of military assets is around $3 bil - $6 bil. So $20 bil for four years averaging $5 bil a year is doable and still within the capacity of our budget. Now the difference is instead of having annual $5 bil yearly budget our kemenhan got top ceiling of $20 bil up until 2024. This create bigger assets purchase possible (such as 36 Raffale / 6 Fremms) to be done in one go/contract thus benefit more towards ToT, imbal balik/dagang, or other economically/politically win-win scenario.

Now if we look how Hawk, van speijk, parchim, old but gold hercules, etc, that is going/scheduled to be retired in the next 5 years then those buy might add additional quantity but only in a few margin. This is where some dudes think that additional $20bil will take the modernization into new leap era, in this case I agree. Or else we going to be doing the "chasing" game for the next decade to come. Its inevitable, we have too many old assets that need to be replaced. Not to mention that we need additional quantity so the game is on now 😁

Whats the possibility of the extra budget? Idk, nothing look too good this year for this effort to shine. Perhaps in 2022 more serious and intense discussion can be done, just not now.

While this might be another case of sloppy journalism (moreover, considering that the media itself doesn't seem to even have a staff who has enough knowledge in defence matter), this might also be a deliberate disinformation attempt.

At least we can still find a relief that this particular media's reputation as a whole is not as big as other mainstream medias.

1st ship must be ready for parade (and presidential campaign) ASAP
we sure it gonna finished before 2024?

most FREMM ship got 3 years construction time and 1 year of testing and commissioned.

if it started constructing this year it probably would finished in (mid/end of) 2024 but i don't hear any news about construction started this year, is it?

Mogami will be ready. Along with Rafale, F-15EX, Scorpene, and U214. Enough for parade.

it going to be a problem.
if you force an engineer to quite a tight deadline they would have cut something to finished the job, what cut it is? that what i'm concern.

FBNW?

If so, then some carpenters will have sudden orders to create some (not so) convincing weapon mock-ups to be put in place in those "kopongan" vessels.
Yo dont make our ship like our neighbor's light frigate.

Mogami will be ready
Uhh, while I'm wishing the same as you, but I think we'll only got our first Mogami then if the contract is going to be positively signed this year. That is the best case scenario, I'm afraid.

As such, there's still no further news regarding their acquisition since last April. Unless I was actually missing a lot, that is.

I don't see any other reason why we were signing this agreement except for the Mogamis*.

*(still hoping Soryu will be included 😁)

That is even older than the April news when the Japanese was reported as still mulling about how to circumvent their arms export restrictions. And more, the signing of the agreement doesn't necessarily means that the contracts have already signed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a supporter of Mogami frigates for Indonesia. It's not only about the ships' factor, but also since they can very well be a necessary push for us to improve our shipbuilding and defence technology knowledge further. That's probably why I'm so critical about this.

Oh, and yes, if they actually also offering Soryu subs, then it's even better. Although I'm not holding my breath for them.

To increase our probability to get Soryu subs, I will Indonesia-nize the sub and start calling it Suryo.
As long as it's not related to this Suryo:

But somehow, I associated the name "Suryo" with moustache. So if the Japanese can use their anime characters as their JSDF mascots, I propose we put logo like this on those Soryu, err... Suryo class if they will really be our next subs:
