Any idea which islands it was?
IMO, our outlying islands at northern border area (both in ALKI I & ALKI II) need serious presence of both civilian gov't and TNI. The grassroot sentiment there isn't exactly favourable toward . thus, worrisome.

The one in the third photo is in the southern part of Papua if I'm not mistaken

I have several questions about this tragedy but the most important one is was there no warning given by local BMKG/Basarnas to nelayan2 about the upcoming storm?

1. The entire Nusantara is around Equator latitude (NOT in temperate climate)
2. Unlike most of you guys here, most of the Indonesia population (particularly fishermen and myself) live and operate far outside Jabodetabek area
3. BMKG provide up-to-date weather information along with marine weather early warning are available for public (screenshot from my phone below) ;

talking about Coast Guards, is there any planning (either in the near or long future) to merge Bakamla, KPLP and PSDKP.....

i know that each entities are under different ministries and have different specific functions (and egos for that matter), but would it be better for them to merge their function which can report to every ministry and be independent of their control while maintaining high readiness and vessel availability (combining both funding and assets to become a proper coast guard)

With current and on-going condition it will be like this for the next decade or so until Bakamla have enough fleet and budget to cover at the very least 75% of their designated area. Withhout one body become more "powerful" then the other it is unlikely they going to merge. The main reason for this thing happend in the first place was each of them dont have no one to rely on their penegakan hukum area so they have to do it themself. And to merge and coordinate them together would require too much energy and resources. If its me I would just build bakamla way bigger then them to make it inefficient to operate their own force and act alone.

Hmm.... what do you mean overboard? You know that Indonesia have lots of islands? Like 13.000+ of them and many remote islands if the govt don't take the initiative the resident in those remote island won't voluntary go to the major island for vaccine. They are doing it at the sea not because to prevent crowds and spread of Covid, its because it is in remote area, and those remote island don't have health facility.

I wasnt aware too much about the importance of LHD at first when I saw PT.PAL LDH drawing many years ago. I always thought its a nice to have assets. After few conversation with friends in obrolan warung kopi style, I was surprised how important it is to transport force such as, amphibious assets, transport/atck helicopter, etc, specially with negara kepulauan like us. Not to mention the importance of this asset for disaster relief mission as well. I could only hope once we have good quantity & quality atck helicopter we could have this LHD for our beloved Navy.

homestly, if you consider above proverbs maturely you will get the full meaning hence, that why i didnt put a big consideration about what toys Armed Forces will be buy, but more into how to simplified the toys for better logistic support.

Then why we must pay more for less tonnage and less equipment installed ?

Japanese 30 FFM have following Electronics such as.

• Mitsubishi OPY-2 (X-band multi-purpose AESA radar)
• Mitsubishi OAX-3(EO/IR)
• OQQ-25 (VDS + TASS)
• Hitachi OQQ-11 (Mine-hunting sonar)
• OYQ-1 (Combat management system)
• OYX-1-29 (Console display system)

all is made by japan, perhaps if Navy sucessfull gain access to this Figate and satisfied with it's Price-to-performance it could be a turning point of "kiblat" tech for Frigate.
