This is Indonesia. If there are European alternatives, choose the European. FMS is only for cool stuff that European doesn’t have (and they think that’s good) lol
other than this helos debate, the most insane case were while most of Medium Lift Helos of Indonesian uses H22M family tech tree, the Army all of sudden want to acquire UH-60 which in this case didn't make any sense. since they are both have same capability.

i think the party before this also do the same thing, to get comparison data of wich AShM better suite to be installed in such FAC .
One NSM (+/- 407 kg) roughly weighs half as much as one RBS 15 (+/- 810 kg) though...

Or from other perspective, if KRI Golok can be armed with four NSMs, then it probably only able to carry two RBS 15.

Those KCR 60 first batch is not good (the later batch is not good enough too in my opinion), during their first appearance in TNI anniversary years ago they already run into problem.

then, entire batch isn't suited much for Indonesian water operation ?
kinda curious why the ship builder ended up no do much improvisation for the last 2 batch.

we lacks human resources
No.
money for research
More fundamental than that, actually. It's about the widespread views of looking down on research - or long time/strategic views and planning - to prioritize short-term gains instead. Even in this forum, you can easily spot replies that pooh-pooh any opinion arguing for long term planning and strategic research and to start trying designing and developing defense technology on our own, delivered completely with reasons such as "we don't need unproven systems for our troops" or the likes.

Hell, how can a system be proven if there's not even a slight interest to start developing, testing, producing, deploying, and receiving feedback from the users themselves?

But yeah, the irony is lost in those kinds of replies since it's quite impossible to remain objective when one already has a vested interest behind their words.

They already lost in translation on why we need to developed our own weapon system by ourselves, those in charge of SOE and Komite Industri Pertahanan feels as long as Karya Anak Bangsa being stamped this enough for any products to be shoved to the end user, and results in user must using sub par products at their own peril. Such bad practices results in resistance from the user to use local products by using battle proven reason, thus created vicious circle.

Such bad practices already happened since long time ago, the license production of BM59 as SP1 battle rifle is an glaring example, followed by other Cases.

Just curious what will an MLU Diponegoro class look like.

Thales SMART S MK2 will likely be chosen to replace earlier LW08.
Will we add VLS for SAM this time. For me the choice of MANPADS for ship air defense are a poor decision.
Remote controlled autocannon to replace 20mm gun in the stern ??
Towed sonar ??
Moroccan navy 9813 are a good standard for upgrades.

If TNI & PT PAL amended the contract for the length of Arrowhead 140 from 143 m to 138-140 m of the original design, can the original design accommodate the weapon specs that PT PAL has released a few months ago?

The original Itver Huitveld class is already has space for 32 mk41 +24 mk56 VLS plus space for the harpoon Missiles up to 4x4 config. They are already enough....
