The first hull, as well, has passed inspection of DNV-GL advanced composite compliance. DNV-GL wouldn't approve it if it wasn't suitable for the environment,if it wasn't approved it wouldn't have been launched nor constructed. Just saying :)
so you are saying that even after it got passed from DNV-GL, it still easily got burned from a short circuit??
well, than the question is not just material then... but the material inspection or certification to...

well, than the question is not just material then... but the material inspection or certification to...
I don't think its the composite material itself to be blame but there are other fire hazardous materials inside the boat. Workers are still working on the boat. Making it worst the boat fire suppression system iirc isn't working yet or not completely installed. The fire just get out of hand and could not be contained. And iinm there isn't any fire truck available at Lundin facility. Cmiiw.

That is what i read. You can search the news about KRI Klewang.

Usually ships that are launched are not finished yet. There is a fitting out process (finishing process).

This is the JS Kumano the Mogami Class Frigate after launching works are still going on that ship.

I am not trying to speculate, but intending to make people think the cause.
Yes the material itself can be highly flammable (so does the insulation materials, cables), but it wouldn't burn right away without any heat source.

Yes the material itself can be highly flammable (so does the insulation materials, cables), but it wouldn't burn right away without any heat source.

The material is one of the thing that make the second ship get longer to finish. From what I read from their company official, the second ship material is better in handling the heat. They say after the ship was burned that they will do some research program on the material, and I think since the second ship take quite long time to finish, so the new material is not likely just an importing stuff, since if it is just being imported, it will not take too long to build second ship after the first one is burn.

if this "zaha" can jump right off the pier to the sea without sinking, maybe they'll choose it ...

The winner still BAE group in the end

+ Electronics, E/O, gun system producer, and producer of other tiny bit of the parts which is Havelsan / Aselsan and other small firms in Turkey.

If getting BAE product directly most of these systems will be supplied from elsewhere.

I heard MoD aiming for BAE LVTP-7.
Which one is better?
Zaha = LVTP7's latest iteration's base design + optimization for tight requirements of Turkish navy + Turkish subsystems + a finer design on top of the chasis to suit certain needs for survivallbility.

Some thinks ZAHA is directly manufactured under the license by BAE (AAV), then if this is the case why design process has started from years ago, and certification as well took another years, including towing tank tests that took a half year to complete. Why has everything been made almost from scratch? No wonder FNSS benefited from LVTP7 design, used it as a base and built their own solution on top of it.

Who offers broader modification? Depends on the count of the order, FNSS may do that for small batches, BAE wouldn't move their finger for some small batches.

Most of these modifications done by FNSS, despite of having a share in that company BAE can not take and apply these on their own design without paying loyalties and getting permission from Turkey for the delivery.

Sorry for not being familiar with Turkish language, but is there any special meaning behind the name?
Zirhli Amfibi Hucum Araclari (ZAHA) (Armored Amphibious Attack Vehicle).

Btw between ZAHA and LVTP 7, there is also consideration of logistic support, and other after sales stuff. It means FNSS should seriously to set up their office in Indonesia including maintenance house for their products in the region (which already included Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines)

Correct me if i am wrong too, wasn't the ship already delivered to the navy and was going through fitting of the some systems? Or was it just 'launched' and pulled to dock for fitting?

From what i understand you imply the first material was supplied by imports, and we know swedish contribution on the material and structural design, manufacturing parts
Swedish who mastered composite manufacturing of large hulls in the beginning of 2000 has messed it up in Indonesia? And delays on the second hull is not related to bureucratics (insurance, inspection, court ruling) and budget allocation? There are thousands page long documents on the incident, if it was just related to the material it wouldn't be this long i think.

After all, the ship has passed class society's approval, so is the material formulation and manufacturing technique. I am dropping a few documents for people who is interested in the subject further. One of them is related to the material used on Visby class, a true combat ship.

If someone is further interested they can have a look at the DNV-GL HSLC Patrol rules, spefically the material section and how many stages needed for material to pass for application.
