Two Independence class and four Freedom class will be decommissioned until March 2022.

Not sure what's the technical problem but one thing for sure, these two LCS class are fast (45 knots?).

Some Aussies on Twitter have already barked that ASEAN countries especially Indonesia and Malaysia are indecisive and thus deserve to be stepped over, but aside from China, Australia is one other major power that often disregards our EEZ and territorial waters like what happened when they towed back refugee boats a couple of years back.

China sees the region as its marketplace and its potential battleground. AUKUS sees the region only as their potential battleground. At least that's the impression I got from observing the whole mess.

Its just about time actually that bilateral relation between ID-AU will be shaken and decline and after awhile it will improve again then dip again and repeat, this trends have been ongoing for a while and keep going up and down.

Both parties has see ASEAN or Malay - Indonesia teritory as the place when the battle will be commence.

While Indonesia struggling to secure their northern EEZ from China, AUKUS will be busy exploiting possible act to counter China via Indonesian teritory.
Hence, what AUKUS member can do now is to pacified Indonesia via bilateral communication.

Also Both party look at Indonesia as potential Sword or Shield.

thoose ship are the first of independence class and freedom class, both made of alluminum hull instead of steel, and if i recall correctly the reason of premature decomission was they found crack and high fatigue over its aft hull in the waterjet in all of the first batch ship, and require high maintenance

AFAIK design and material flaws, corrotion, and engine or gear trouble, high speed and stealth come in "variety of price" consequence

maybe just buy more corvette, stick on something that already proven....at least if we want something new

Well RAN acquiring SSN has nothing to do with Indonesia really, they have been involved in sabre rattling with PRC for some time now and they are US' ally, therefore their military capability is geared more toward containing PRC. As we are now surrounded with SSN user north and south, it would be better to start improving our ASW capability

After getting those Frigates or while waiting them online, the next procurement would be focused to fill Marine Corps needs (armor, artillery, spaa, manpads, SBAShM), ASW Helicopters and Aircraft, follow on OPV/Corvettes/ light Frigate whatever you name it lah, and some support ships units.

Crotale-NG, in my opinion using an autocannon to intercept low flying drone, missile, fighter, chopper right now the chance of bullet hitting it are rather pretty slim, unless they're using state of the art fuzed munition such as those 35mm AHEAD.

Well, both Korkut and Biho designers should also recognize this challenge so they, in theory, should have incorporated similar munition technology as the one Rheinmetall has.

While it might be more effective, but shooting down low-flying drones within visual range with missiles also has its own problems - economic, for instance. It's still cheaper to blast them out of the sky with cannon rounds than to use a missile.

Besides, the cannons are still useful to engage ground targets in a pinch or to be used as fire support in urban warfare.
