I still don't understand why Indonesian Navy or the ones who manages the project clearly trying to make a multi-purpose frigate into an AAW destroyer - frigate. AH140 was meant to be cheap, affordable and in high numbers with basic equipment, not replacing Type 45 or Horizon Class.

Yes Iver Huitfeldt and De Zeven classes share the similar architecture and serves as AAW frigates but Indonesian Navy is not Dutch or Danish Navy, there is clearly a need for Type 45 - Horizon class like dedicated AAW asset to manage a wide area air defenses and even serve BMD role if needed. If we see the waters and possible frontlines to be defended need of two such AAW dedicated flagships are clear.
Yes i agree, Babcock Type-31e Class though using the same hull from Iver Huitfeldt Class is a different purpose from Danish version, it's a General Purpose, low cost at production, etc. I'd prefer have them at roughly similar specs with original version but in aerial defence superior to Martadinata Class which relies on 12 MICA VLS, i suppose 32 VLS for MR-SAM is clearly improvement but idk what obsession to cook AH-140 into somekind of Monster Frankenstein like PT PAL 143m version.

AH did tweeted about a mobile air defense system for the Indonesian Marine Corps but he did not mentioned what type it is.

Just like i said before (maybe i said this a very long time a go in 2020/2021), the Marine corps list of need is not priority right now after second revision , the Armada take chunks of Navy modernization budget and also PENERBAL which usually priority they are not, but nonetheless the PENERBAL is in much better position though. Just hope they (Marine corps) can get some dime for their need....

You guys still remember this one? Wonder what happened to this plan (and money). It was fun discussion back then.

"The Indonesian Ministry of Finance (MoF) has granted approval for the country to obtain up to USD600 million in foreign loans to procure at least one second-hand submarine for the Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut: TNI-AL)."

So Indonesian Navy two OPV 90 would have Advent combat system along with ATMACA AShM.

So for the guns, according to the design should utilized 76 mm gun and 35 mm CIWS. FFBNW today must not taking longer time compared to the past

Well i remember the last news about it last year, we applied for 2 Brazilian Navy Tupi Class ( Howaldtswerke Type-209/1400 Class ), no updates further. Some suggest still unapproved by Ministry of Finance.

Once we have 2 fully operational OPVs then i hope we are getting the replacement for Parchim Class and IMHO these 90m OPVs with Turkish subsystems and armaments would be economic yet a decent replacement programme

Easy of maintenance and more economical
+ sustained power output in hot climates. Gas turbines loose the efficiency once ambient temperature surpasses 25 Celcius degrees.
+ ease of installation, gas turbines has tons of requirement in air inlet designs, also for cooler - sprinkles that cools down the exhaust. They have both logistics, mechanical and technical fingerprint than diesel engines.

But still none beats gas turbines when it comes to compactness and going from 0 to 120 when needed and providing extra powers whenever needed.
Can be gokdeniz
Why haven't they finalized contract in the defense fair? Aselsan have been in talks for months.

the MoD must be taking their time , as there is also FFBNW option with the PAL Frigate and in my opinion they would secure the contract together, and they too yet to secure contract for the main gun.

For CIWS Either Aselsan or Rheinmetall Time Will tell later.

Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL is preparing to start work on the country's first Iver Huitfeldt-class frigate and will hold a steel-cutting ceremony for the ship in November 2022, the company has confirmed.

Speaking to Janes at the Indo Defence 2022 exhibition in Jakarta, CEO of PT PAL Kaharuddin Djenod said that the project has been branded as the ‘Red White' frigate programme after the colours of the Indonesian flag to reflect the vessels' status as locally built warships.

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense (MoD) signed a preamble contract for a variant of the Iver Huitfeldt frigate with PT PAL in April 2020.

However, the two-ship contract only became effective from 24 May 2021. Following this, UK defence group Babcock announced in September 2021 that it has signed a licence agreement to provide PT PAL with the Arrowhead 140 design for the two ships.

In turn, Babcock's Arrowhead 140 design is based on the Royal Danish Navy's three-ship Iver Huitfeldt class, which were commissioned between January and November 2011.

In an interview with Janes at Indo Defence 2022, Kaharuddin denied that there have been major delays to the programme. “Between the time that the contract became effective and the present day, PT PAL engineers worked with representatives from the MoD and the navy to fine-tune the Arrowhead 140 design according to the user's requirements,” Kaharuddin said.

Didn't the PAL representative said to you that they will put all the VLS for SAM to midship position? That's mean the VLS for Brahmos will be removed and replaced with other AShM, or it will be moved behind the main gun?

They won't do that, that is the original AH140 / Iver Huitfeldt configuration and available by default.
