The most obvious one is they never launch their black shark torpedoes until now. That is a huge red flag.
"Training torpedo" I suggest you to search the term. Definitely launched this one few times.
Submarines do not launch live warhead torpedoes here and there, just for trials. Each SINKEX costs $5-6 Million including the price of the torpedo and inspections required after that.

Just wait and see mate.
Although, he has a point. Discussing financial plans do not last 1.5 year (and going on) .

Totally agree with you. Actually it's very obvious since his first term (2014-2019) that the current president doesn't have visions, commitment, even knowledge about defense matter.

The only way all these deals would proceed if the Mindef became president himself.

since the campaigns, He already shows that defence matter was not his priority, but thats not make him run away from defence building capability, as you can remember, he said in 2018 he will put defence in his focus, but during his first presidential periode, he got very bad subordinat at defence ministry, lot of weaponary procurement move in to chaos during that time.

Than Covid came, for almost 3 years, 800 T approx. budget, rearange to control covid. When covid in end phase, with defence minister who know how to lobby, boom, the biggest single arm purchasing in indonesia history happens, with that huge budget.

Rafale becoming sign that the president not allergic to defense procurement, as long as he can be convinced by his subordinat, that defence is realy big matter, critical n important for Indonesia. before its happens, only economics team who can do that.

I'm afraid it's not just a lobby. It's all about the vision, commitment, and just basic defense knowledge that he really lacks.

as long as he can be convinced by his subordinat, that defence is realy big matter, critical n important for Indonesia. before its happens, only economics team who can do that.

as long as he can be convinced by his subordinat? Well, this is actually what's really worrying. Our Aspac defense situation and threats have been very obvious, it's even highlighted since the 90's.

Keeping the defense budget only at 0.8% - 0.9% GDP while our economy and debt/GDP ratio is healthy also baffling (again, he's not a bad guy, just really lacks knowledge & commitment).

I'm not campaigning for anyone, but the other guy would probably increase it to > 1% instantly (and I'm not talking about radical increase here).
