If Japanese offers come with not only an interesting financial scheme but also technical benefits, then there is no reason to resist it.

Their offer may be good but how about the ship itself(Jp vs Yurop). About its capabilities and missions that we want, which one is more suitable?
They are all multi-mission capable frigates, right? Whether configured as air defence, anti submarine or whatnot depends on the customer's request.

If it's about propulsion system, well, since we have already signed contract for FREMM frigates, this already becomes irrelevant IMO. But if it's about electronics and weapon system, frankly I'm still undecided.

This.

I'm biased here, but I still believe Japanese offer is still more beneficial for us in the long run.

As I recall, it was PakDe himself who's inviting the 🇯🇵 to "assist" regarding our concern at Natuna Sea. Turning our back toward 🇯🇵 will be the greatest geopolitical blunder and downright suicidal.

Hoaa, then i hope 08 reserved some space for Japan.
The problem is how to integrate MBDA missile to Mogami?
Is it even possible? Does Japan or France allow it?
I hope there is a clause on that newly signed agreement with french that can make it possible.

As rule of thumb, paying customer (albeit ngutang) should be the one who decide that. IF It's not, then we can always fall back by Buy American, Hire American

While i highly doubted Indonesia's willingness to fork out the necessary capital for it . It represent a decent opportunity for a certain ToT of new weaponry system . But , we all talking about our out of the world govs here . As stingy and cheapskating as they were , anything and everything was happened always a possibilities ..

I got the feeling they would use Full Japanese solution instead and VLS MK41 still on the table

As I recall again, the 🇯🇵 is willing to giving out "hibah", albeit not sure to what extent that "hibah" will be, along with investment package on the side.

Little historical context, I've remembered clearly that during Gus Dur presidency he did say that IF 🇮🇩 ever get invaded / attack by eternal state actor (🇨🇳 maybe?), then 🇯🇵 will be the first to come to our aid. Furthermore, during hand over from SBY to PakDe, SBY publicly stated for PakDe to be real nice to 🇯🇵, because they had helped / assist us greatly.

🇯🇵 ships use 🇺🇸 radar & missiles. Although, one can always find chipset or component with Hitachi or Toshiba labelling in each of them.

Excerpts.

"Bolstered by his plan to spend over US$125 billion on arms procurement by 2044, Prabowo might expect the defence agreement with Japan to encourage Indonesia’s other arms suppliers to offer more competitive deals, including technological transfer to support Indonesia’s arms industry. Currently, Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence is selecting the follow-on to the two Dutch-designed Martadinata-class frigates, the most sophisticated addition to Indonesia’s fleet. Prabowo might also use the defence agreement to press the Dutch for better terms if they wish to see the procurement of more Martadinata-class frigates.

The defence agreement with Japan could even prompt Prabowo to induce South Korea into offering better terms for the additional acquisition of Type-209 Nagapasa-class submarines. The recent sinking of Indonesia’s Nanggala-402 submarine — refurbished in South Korea in 2012 — has put Indonesian naval procurement and technological transfer from South Korea under scrutiny. If not for the subs, perhaps better terms could be negotiated with South Korea for the sale of KF-X/IF-X 4.5 generation fighter aircraft.

On 10 June 2021, Indonesia signed a contract to purchase six Bergamini-class and two ex-Maestrale-class frigates from Italy. In addition to the Italian Bergamini, Indonesia has been eyeing the Danish ‘Iver Huitfeld’ and British ‘Arrowhead 140’ design from Babcock International.

Guiding this approach is the belief that Indonesia can opportunistically turn to one supplier country against another wherever the deal appears sweeter. The sale of Mogami-class frigates will confirm the addition of Japan to Indonesia’s present list of arms suppliers."

i don't think,

but i like the idea of using martadinata-class as a template for our patrol vessel, albeit an expensive patrol vessel.
Or could we weaponized KN pulai Nipah 110 bakamla ship as escort vessel. 12 Vl mica, oto melara 76, 4 exocet,
