I hope that the new goverment can provide additional funds for research in the field of rockect sains..

I mean they should, from the latest report, we know that PRTR received $200.000 for research purpose from external sources ( LPDP, PINDAD, DAHANA, UI and RIIM). That's ULTRA low budget for something like rocket science. While ORPA budget got like $840,000 and that is to be divided into 5 sub-divisions with PRTR as one of it. LAPAN, before its dissolution by this government used to have a budget of $ 53 million

for comparison, Iran recently allocated $500M for its space program, and still, they think it's not enough considering other nations could be in Billions of USD.

*PRTR = Pusat Riset Teknologi Roket

This product, called the Indonesian Bionic Hand, is a prosthesis—a replacement for a body part—with a mechatronic system consisting of batteries, motors, sensors and mechanical systems. The development is aimed at below-elbow amputees. This tool is now being used by an Indonesian Air Force staff member.

PT PAL ongoing and future projects.

Excerpts.

Project R41

Project R41 is the name for the repair program for 41 warships belonging to the Indonesian National Army (TNI) Navy (AL). Code R41 is an abbreviation for Refurbishment 41 KRI.

Of the 41 KRIs, 16 of them were completely repaired at the PT PAL Indonesia shipyard in Surabaya. For the rest, PT PAL Indonesia is the lead integrator.

"Not only improving the platform, but also adding new weapons (such as) guided missiles. There are 22 KRI (from 41 ships) added guided missiles, some are 2x2, some are 1x2," said the President Commissioner of PT PAL Indonesia, Didit Herdiawan, about the project which cost 980 million US dollars.

Merah Putih Frigate

The Merah Putih Frigate is a frigate or guard ship built from scratch by PT PAL on orders from the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) during the period of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

There are two frigates being built at PT PAL Indonesia, with a construction contract starting in 2021. "The duration of making the first frigate is 57 months, the second frigate is 69 months, (for) delivery to the owner," said Didit.

When Kompas.com visited the PT PAL Indonesia shipyard, the progress of the Merah Putih Frigate was that 58 blocks of the total 161 blocks had been worked on to build this ship.

"The target, April has been placed in the graving dock, it will be erected there," said Djoned.

The sensor, weapon, communication and control systems of the ship's sensor, weapon and command or sewaco systems are currently in the renegotiation stage to obtain the actual ToT.

Other Projects

Apart from the Philippines, orders from friendly countries also come from the United Arab Emirates. One ship has entered the contract stage and there are plans to order two more ships from this country.

Djoned also revealed developments related to the joint submarine project between Indonesia and South Korea.

"The first batch of three submarines has been completed," said Djoned.

According to him, the collaboration should have entered Batch 2 by now. However, continued Djoned, the contract for Batch 2 is still considered unfair.

"(With the existing contracts), if we want to master technology and achieve independence in the defense industry, Indonesia needs a long time for submarines," said Djoned.

Therefore, Djoned said that Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto had set conditions for the continuation of this project.

The first requirement is to repair the submarines from Batch 1. The aim is for these ships to have better combat capabilities.

The second condition is that the ToT with ship construction is carried out at PT PAL Indonesia, with a larger portion of spending going to the domestic defense industry as well.

"So this is a delay in the context of renegotiations to increase the capabilities we get from this project," stressed Djoned.

Didit also believes that a decision on the renegotiation of the submarine project with South Korea can be made soon this year.

They have already built stealth ships (the corvette and frigates), and also building the FMP right? Is he referring to morr stealth designs like the Attack Boat that PT. PAL has shown before?

Prabowo is a land man, his background is in the army. For him (maybe) stealth = no detection by radar at all. While we know stealth is mostly a detection-reducing measure.

The SIGMA is stealth already, so does the KCR-60. PT PAL could even make the SIGMA more stealth by introducing enclosed radome

In the end the operator attaches some stuff on the boards, leave equipment on the deck and ruin all the 'planned RCS'. A lot of work put by the designers and constructor goes to trash with simple ignorances. Just marking, the designs look sleek and clean on the renders but once you board in one of these ships you notices little bit of things scattered around ruining the RCS.

Like US opted for pole-mast in ATDs instead of Integrated mast that costed a lot more and yielded maybe no results. I more see these radomes as a measure to protect radars from environmental conditions or from shrapnels, or blast loads.

The designer of course pushes for the radome and glorifies it because it is either licensed by them, or made by them with huge profit margins. Composites structures, especially RF-selective ones- had a huge profit margin. Better spend this money on IRST or AESA than a radome, imo.

Amaury De Poncins, Director of Export Sales for Asia Nexter KNDS, said that trust is very necessary for cooperation between the two parties, namely France-RI, as well as related to technology transfer. One of the areas of focus is the weapons manufacturing supply chain.

"We will work together on the supply chain and infrastructure side," said De Poncins in Versailles, France some time ago.

It is known that PT Pindad and Nexter KNDS previously collaborated on local content for the Komodo Nexter 4x4 tactical vehicle of various types and the Caesar 155 mm Howitzer in the 2017-2020 period.

On the official PT Pindad website, it is stated that the types produced include: Battalion Command Vehicle (BnCV), Battery Command Vehicle (BCV), Meteo Vehicle (MeV), Forward Observer Vehicle (FoV), Relay Vehicle (ReV) and Logistic Vehicle (LoG ).

"PT Pindad already has super qualifications to design combat vehicles and small caliber ammunition. So we believe PT Pindad is a partner for this project," said De Poncins.

I hope they will do a live firing this year after 2 static firing tests in 2021-2022
