Strategic Importance of Coal Gasification For Turkey

The predominant production and consumption of coal around the world has shifted from west to east countries. No matter how shifting west to east coal’s production is, coal continues to be at the forefront of the world's primary energy consumption. Turkey’s energy costs constitute more than half of the deficit because of dependency on primary energy sources. It is an important national security issue to be able to process domestic coal resources with high technology and use them for gasification / liquefaction in order to reduce foreign dependency on energy. One of the major risk factors for Turkey is a regional or global crisis that may arise in petroleum and natural gas. The most important way to become a self-sufficient country in energy is to increase the diversity of resources, as well as to transform domestic coal resources into high value-added products with local technologies. In this study, the current status of coal, future of coal with predictions, and coal gasification information and future prospects are given globally and specifically so as to include Turkey. Furthermore, emphasizing the strategic importance of coal gasification products for Turkey, some suggestions are made by analyzing the Turkish market.

That we needed water bombs like this combat fires.

This needs to be invested!!! This opportunity cant pass up!!


Mr. Okumus did a flood on this, also mentioning the YSB which they contacted the developers. SAGE has been working on this for 2 years now. In summary, forest fires are very big. Using explosives are not that effective. Analysts show that explosive residue could actually negatively impact special chemicals used by firefighters thus actually cause further difficulty stopping the fires. Blast effects also makes it unusable near civilians areas and also can put firefighters working on the field under danger. Currently there is no chemicals for the bombs that could be used as an alternative. Sweden did use bombs but no outcome that show it could be effectively used. Studies still ongoing by SAGE.

I am utterly disappointed that there is no company, institute working on seaplane designs in a country that is surrounded by sea. I ain't asking for a project that cost hundred million dollars.

Imagine something that looks similar to this in concept, cheap enough use in large numbers, that could be guided by TB2s etc. They could use COTS parts to bring down costs and sensors to make it drop water surgically. Give a contact to TAI or Baykar, assign marine/naval enginers. ITU to help with design. We can develop in 1-2 years with our capabilities. I would even do this project just for R&D, experiment.

Closest we got to something similar to this is VLA project to be carried out by ITU, METU with TAI backing. Several companies and institutes also previously did develop VLAs. Uzaytem, Turkkusu etc. There is many reasons why they never took off. Leave seaplane aside. First, civilian aviation is underdeveloped in Turkey. There is still not enough interest or recognition sadly. Cost is one of the reasons, but thinking about VLAs, it is a very cheap alternative for entering aviation along with gliders. Government would have to start a program to encourage development of civilian aviation. Speaking Aquila, Aquila's advantage is it's an Germany-based Turkish company and they have already existing customer base in EU. They far likely to be able to fund new projects. Coming back to seaplane, I am talking about a aircraft far larger and technical than VLA. VLA similar to one in the image we have local companies that can build it. It would be good for civilia, touristic purposes. What we want is a seaplane designs that could operate in difficult sea states. It's hull would have to be designed to perform aggressive landings and takeoff from sea with payload.

You are talking about a larger seaplane but we do not have a reasonably sized market for it.
Turkish government need to support the growth of general aviation. It does to some extent but still too little too late, we need to go faster. I have seen companies who got government money to develop 6 seat planes. But they need to also change laws to accommodate innovation at low level. Like the Part 103 of the US which allows small planes to be flown without a license for the plane and without any pilot training. Same thing in China. We should have similar enabling laws. We are on the brink of a new revolution in aviation like for flying cars but our laws lag behind innovation.

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Material Institute (ME), complex and very small electronic components in the production of the powder, preform and paste form for hermetic glass-metal welding applications are developing sealing glasses.

Sealing windows with hermetic packaging or hermetic merge feature are used to isolate the components in the system from the environmental conditions (moisture, air, etc.), mechanically combine each other in the system and / or an electrically insulating the component from the other.

ROKETSAN A.Ş. With the cooperation and support, two kinds of preforms were developed by TÜBİTAK MAM, for the production of electrical glass-metal welding for the production of electrical transition components in the defense industry (Match-compatible) and compressive type.

Developed glass preforms insulating (minimum 100 megaohm resistance), tight (HE) (<1x10-6 ATM CC / SEC) and pressure resistant (compelling pressure test: 5000 ± 50 psi - 15 seconds).

TÜBİTAK MAM Material Institute in different compositions and geometries in the desired features (thermal expansion coefficient, merge temperature, etc.) Sealing windows; The glass has production competence and infrastructure in powder, paste and glass preform forms.

Baykar Defence is still Growing incredibly quick.
> The Amount of Projects are likely the reason

Baykar is now around 1600 Employees According to Selcuk Bayraktars recent report.
> According to LinkedIN their Headcount grew by a whopping 60% in the past 6 Months.

Baykar Group also added Black Sea Shield to their Portfolio but nothing is known, at least to the Public.

> AI 450TD TP-Engine License was to be transferred to the BSS Company and produced locally in Turkey but the Website hasn't been updated since 2019.
> AI35 for GEZGIN Cruise Missile were also rumored to be produced by BSS
> AI25 and AI322F. Future Aircraft like MIUS might also have their Engine be Produced by BSS but that would be gigantic Task to create a supply chain in that size.

Baykar and Ukraine could produce cheaper alternatives to TAI and TEI products, for 3rd world Countries. Even though that would take years.
I don't really see a Competition on par with TAI, but rather a Complementary Joint Venture for the underdeveloped Markets.

The Increase in the recent 3 Years is remarkable
1.000 Employees in the last 6 Months. likely 2.000 new Employees in 2021.

I assume the High Numbers will remain until at least 2025 and that could mean about 8000 additional Employees for a total of 19.000 in 2025.
