Developed a local and national operating system by writing 46 thousand lines of code

Muhammed Ümit Aksoylu, 4th year student of Kocaeli University (KOU) Engineering Faculty Computer Engineering Department, wrote 46 thousand lines of code and made a closed source operating system developed for personal use for mobile that was switched from Linux kernel to Unix.

Aksoylu, KOÜ Engineering Faculty Computer Engineering Department Head Prof. Dr. Yasar prepared Skilled Consultants in "Linux Kernel Mobile Development Operating System" project, TUBITAK 2242 Student Research Project Competition in Turkey finals Information and Communication Technologies category were exhibited in teknofest won third prize.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Aksoylu stated that he is working to develop an operating system and that Prof. Dr. He said that under his consultancy, Becerikli was working on developing an operating system with the Linux kernel.

Stating that they participated in the TÜBİTAK 2242 University Students Research Project Competition in this way, Aksoylu noted that he moved the operating system to the Unix base.

Stating that they produced an operating system with closed source code, Aksoylu continued as follows:

"First off, the source code has in Turkey. Its importance, codes do not have to share with anyone. It can be shared business. For example, the operating system, Mac OS X, just use closed source Unix-like us. Normally, this 10-month effort, but I have 8 months of work. My research project was a doc. I wrote a thesis of 80 pages and another thesis with 80 pages. While I was writing research, I wrote code while dealing with its design. I wrote a program to learn how many lines of code I wrote. I wrote a line of code. "

"We are faced with an operating system that completely abstracts us from foreign dependency"

Stating that he turned the process of the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic into an opportunity and said that he was closing home and working, Aksoylu said that he wrote code for at least 8 hours a day.

Aksoylu stated that he does research 6 hours a day in addition to writing code and continued as follows:

"You cannot write a code you do not know. I even read at least 3 times the source of the code I wrote. I designed our own interface such as Windows and Mac. This operating system has its own application menu, it has its own application program, it even has an application market such as the Google Play Store. We are faced with an operating system that completely abstracts us from external dependency because it has its own market, and with a platform that we will develop in the future, other software developers will be able to develop an application on this platform and put it on the market. Since you cannot download and install applications from outside, 80 percent of drogens are also transmitted in this way, providing protection in terms of hacking. "

Stating that the system can work on Mac and Windows computers, Aksoylu said that since the system he developed is a Unix-based kernel, it can work with its own interface even on a credit card-sized embedded computer.

"We are meeting with a few municipalities who want to use our operating system"

Stating that he was doing the current interface for use in office, business and multimedia, Aksoylu said:

"We have developed the operating system simple, simplicity, beauty. We Turks Windows, we want to make Turkey the Apple of this 'red apple' we can say. Closed source our own system in Turkey, strategic points, military systems and office computers, as in many areas We aim to have a system that can be used. We are already meeting with a few municipalities who want to use our operating system. In this sense, we are waiting for everyone who wants to try and develop our operating system and join us. "

Aksoylu pointed out the importance of the domestic operating system in terms of both economy and security, explaining that it can be ensured that the foreign currency remains in the country by not buying the operating system from outside.

"The most important point of the developed system is that it belongs to us"

Prof. Dr. Becerikli also stated that they carried out a study in this field in 2006 as a department and that he advised Muhammed Ümit to work in this field.

Stating that Muhammed Ümit developed this infrastructure in a short time due to its high capacity, Becerikli stated that the operating system is one of the critical technologies of the countries.

Becerikli stated that all kinds of technological devices are built on the operating system and continued as follows:

"The operating system is one of the most important products after chip production. We started working for this purpose 14 years ago. As a university, we operated to produce products. Our aim with Ümit is to address real-time operating systems, that is, embedded hardware. Operation to be developed on embedded hardware. systems must be in real-time architecture. Such operating systems must be used in all areas, from mobile devices to the defense industry.

Becerikli stated that they directed the talented students to this field and stated that they plan to form a team in this regard at the university.

"The most important point of the developed system is that it belongs to us." said Prof. Dr. Becerikli said, "Our aim is to realize all functions that can be done on an Android or IOS mobile phone at the moment. In addition, we have the possibility to add many functions. We can also turn this into a different philosophy of our own. We will continue to work on it." used the expressions.

New method by Turkish scientists to increase the efficiency of solar cells

In order to increase the efficiency of existing solar cells at Ege University (EU) Solar Energy Institute, a 1 nanometer subatomic nanoparticle, "golden quantum dot", was produced.

Institute Director and EÜ Energy Department Head Prof. Dr. A project was initiated by the "Ela Research Group" led by Şule Erten Ela to increase the efficiency of solar cells that convert light into electricity.

In this context, with the support of TÜBİTAK, Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Khalaf Ali was also included in the group.

Concentrating their work, the experts have succeeded in producing the gold quantum dot, which is a subatomic nanoparticle and previously produced in 2-10 nanometer sizes, in 1 nanometer size.

With the project, the current solar cell efficiency was increased by up to 28 percent, thanks to the high capacity absorption of gold quantum dots.

The system, which can be used indoors as it can operate with less light than existing solar cells, can be mounted on glass and curtain and convert the sunlight entering the room into energy.

The project, which has various advantages in addition to its low cost, is thought to be used in many notes of daily life.

"We will produce quantum dots from many different materials"

EÜ Solar Energy Institute Director and Head of Energy Department Prof. Dr. Şule Erten Ela told Anadolu Agency (AA) that they have passed the publication and patent stage in the study, which they believe will make an impact on new generation solar cells.

Prof. Dr. Ela explained that this new method, which combines silicon technology and new generation solar cell technology, can be used in many places including interiors.

Stating that they have been working on this issue for about 15 years, Ela said, "For the first time in our project, we produced gold quantum dots in the size of 1 nanometer from metallic gold with laser ablation method. With this method, we will be able to produce quantum dots from many different materials." used the expressions.

Emphasizing that they have produced "p-type dye sensitive" solar cells with a new concept within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1001 Project, Şule Ertan Ela said, "I have been doing research on n-type dye sensitive solar cells in my studies for many years. We have produced the first p-type dye sensitive solar cell with -type materials. We published this study in a journal abroad. With this publication, we can now perform all processes, including the production of solar cell devices from the material. used the expressions.

Sule Ertan Gray, noting that foreign researchers begin to prefer Turkey, said that they were proud that they contribute to the development of Turkish science.

Prof. Dr. If Abdurrahman Ali Khalaf expressed his pleasure to take part in such an important study also he pointed out that it met with appreciation abroad of similar scientific research in Turkey.

What is the problem?
He didn't develop any operating system, he already has been roasted in Linkedin for using avaliable open-source libraries and system tools (kernel-package management-window manager etc) and rebranding as "first closed source national operating software which we all need"

Strategic Capability of TÜBİTAK-SAGE: THERMOPILES

TÜBİTAK Defence Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE), one of the leading organizations of the Turkish defense industry, is achieving significant gains thanks to studies in the field of thermopiles.

Thermopiles produced by TÜBİTAK-SAGE are the heart of smart ammunition. They are used both in products developed by the Turkish defence industry and foreign countries. TUBITAK-SAGE, which has produced 38 different thermopiles so far, has saved 91 million USD, and critical information regarding these products has not gone abroad.

The successes Turkey achieved in thermopile technology that power smart ammunition during flight is not used in products developed by the Turkish defense industry only. TÜBİTAK-SAGE has exported these products to a number of critical countries, including Germany. In addition, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that in recent months, a pre-order has been received from an EU country after Germany.

What is Thermopile?

A thermopile is a single-use electrochemical power supply that is widely used as the main power source in guidance kits, rockets, missiles, decoys/jammers, guided artillery ammunitions and aircraft ejection seat systems. There is no alternative to thermopiles in military applications where requirements such as wide operating temperature range, long shelf life, being maintenance-free during shelf life, rapid triggering, non-exhaustion, high reliability, resistance to harsh environmental conditions, and high energy density must be met at the same time.
TÜBİTAK-SAGE Director Gürcan OKUMUŞ, recently made a statement about thermopiles: “The heart of all the products we have talked about so far is our thermopiles. As TÜBİTAK-SAGE, while working on system development projects, we also work on sub-systems. Thermopile is among the most critical of these subsystems. Thermopiles are the systems that provide the energy of all the ammunition we are talking about after they leave the plane. It is a technology owned by only 3-4 countries around the world, therefore we cannot easily obtain these from abroad. This technology was developed by TUBITAK-SAGE in Turkey, and at the moment, thermopiles are not necessary for only TUBITAK-SAGE’s own products but for all products in the defense industry. Thermopiles developed by TUBITAK-SAGE meet these needs. It is a strategic product, a must.”

Gürcan OKUMUŞ
Mr. OKUMUŞ
These statements by Mr. OKUMUŞ, help us understand better how thermopiles are a critical subsystem. Keeping critical information domestic, economization and exports are definitely important parameters. However, there is a much more important situation here: “Embargo”. According to the information I have obtained from some external sources, thermopiles also received their share of the implicit embargoes on the Turkish defense industry a while ago. Following this, TÜBİTAK-SAGE stood out as a domestic supplier and invalidated the embargo.

SOM Cruise Missile

In fact, it is necessary for me to hand it to the thermopile team of TÜBİTAK-SAGE here… Last year, I had the opportunity to visit the center where the production activities of thermopiles were being carried out. Indeed, a highly specialized team continues its production and R&D activities tirelessly. The product portfolio is really wide and the achievements are even bigger than you can imagine. Moreover, comprehensive studies also continue. The excitement they feel for their work is evident from the eyes of our engineers and technicians who carry out these activities and the way they describe them. In my opinion, the secret of this success lies within the excitement and the wonderful “frequency” between engineers and the executives.

It seems that Turkey’s thermopile developments that are being carried out by TUBITAK-SAGE, will be effective in the export market in the future.

Worse than the HACK incident, these companies are recruited by cultists and incompetent people. There has been a change that is not overlooked in recent years. The top managers have already been parachuted to the companies. For example Görgün and Kotil. Görgün previously, how can the rector manage a company like Aselsan? It is possible to see that this cult network, which is formed in every field, interferes with this sector, even in the advertising videos of these companies and some social media statements. Leaving Aselsan from Aselsan in recent years, it is an issue that should be considered a lot.

Of course, there is also the full side of the glass. Experienced engineers who have worked abroad for many years are returning. Some, if not all.

This article made me sad!

The journo starts the article by stating that Turkey wants to ends the foreign reliance of military products by 2023 and then start summing up military products built with foreign assistance from before 2023. The only right point he makes is the TF-X project which is one of the very few military projects that needs foreign assistance. Apart from that between 2023 and 2030 we will see Turkey reaching 100% indigenous capability for its military needs.

At the European Nuclear Research Center (CERN), Prof. Dr. Saleh Sultansoy gave information about the content of the study. Professor of Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering at TOBB ETU. Dr. Sultansoy, preventing the TAC due to unfinished projects' power of zerriye of matter in Turkey and would generally discussed in this geography. Projects were initiated, Turkey and the regional center of attraction in this area would be one of the global centers of attraction, "he said.

EA OR ADS TECHNOLOGY

Pointing out that particle accelerators, which have an important place among the strategic technologies of the 21st century, are used in many fields of science, technology, medicine and industry, Prof. Dr. Sultansoy said that, for our country, perhaps the most important area of use is the Energy Amplifier (EA) or Accelerator Driven System (ADS) technology, proposed by CERN in the 1990s under the leadership of Nobel Prize winner Carlo Rubbia. "

NUCLEAR FUEL FROM THORIUM

Stating that this technology, which was developed as an alternative to traditional nuclear reactors to meet the increasing energy needs of the world, has made great progress in recent years. Dr. Sultansoy said that this technology, which will enable the use of Torium as a nuclear fuel, is on the agenda of the Turkish public opinion, and Professor, whom we lost in a plane crash in 2007. Dr. It was carried out with the interview Engin Arık gave to the press in 2002, "he said.

NATIONAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENT

Noting that in recent years, national programs have been initiated in many countries, especially Belgium, China and India. Dr. Sultansoy added that international collaborations were established. Prof. Dr. Sultansoy said, "Our country should also start a national program as soon as possible and be involved in international collaborations."

Providing information about the system, Prof. Dr. Sultansoy said, The most important difference of this system from conventional reactors is that the neutrons that trigger the nuclear process are produced outside the reactor using a proton accelerator. Therefore, in principle, it is not possible to have such accidents in Chernobyl. Another important advantage is that long-life nuclear waste is very low, "he said.

THORIUM RESERVES IN THE WORLD

Prof. Sultansoy, Turkey is the second 744 thousand tons, 606 thousand tons of Brazil third. Australia is ranked as 521 thousand tons, the USA 424 thousand tons, and Egypt as 380 thousand tons. According to investigations carried out in Turkey over much of the IAEA's data is estimated to have reserves of thorium, "he said.

20% of the World's Thorium Reserves in Turkey

In Turkey, Eskisehir-Sivrihisar region of 380 thousand tons of thorium reserves are determined noted that Prof. Dr. Sultansoy, In addition, a preliminary search was made from the air in the Malatya-Kuluncak region, but no work was done to determine the reserve. Of Professor Carlo Rubbia; In his presentation Since the 1990s, Turkey's total reserves of 880 thousand tons of thorium (thorium reserves 20 percent of the world) is reported to be around. Recent findings support Rubbia's view. Only Isparta Aksu region detected thorium reserves on 20 thousand tons, will meet Turkey's energy needs for 100 years. Unlike Sivrihisar reserves, thorium in this region can be processed much more easily, "he said.

A PERMANENT ECONOMIC AND STRATEGIC VALUE

In the collaborative work of scientists, it was emphasized that the accelerator-driven thorium fueled systems will be one of the most important energy sources in the future. It was noted that as the fossil fuel reserves are depleted, the prices of oil and other conventional energy types continue to increase, so ADS technology is inevitable to be one of the cheapest and safest energy generation mechanisms. It is a permanent economic and strategic value for a country to have both thorium reserves and its own ADS technology that will use it safely in the future.

ADS TECHNOLOGY MUST BE STARTED IMMEDIATELY

In the project, all the necessary applications are included in all technical details. Given that no one in Turkey nearly a fifth of the estimated reserves of thorium in the world, emphasized the necessity of urgently initiating R & D work related to the ADS technology. In the study, primarily initiated studies to eliminate speculation about Turkey's thorium reserves and was asked to reveal the real situation as soon as possible.

AMOUNT TO COVER FOR CENTURIES

In the study, which stated that R&D studies should include nuclear reactor and proton accelerator technologies, the realization of a national program for the establishment of a high-current proton accelerator with GeV energy will not only meet the energy requirement of our country, but also provide a neutron spallation source used in many fields of science and technology. thorium reserves of the energy needs of our country should be noted that the amount required to meet in Turkey for centuries, "the statement said.
