Finally, the word "stronger" is a bit misleading since it is not a well defined physical property but to my knowledge no material is 200x better then steel in every possible way. For example, graphene and borophene have 200x tensile strength while they have virtually zero compression strength in the plane (similar to a piece of rope)
There are steels up to 2GPa strength, referred as "advanced hss". You may be aware of steels up to 500 Mpa but in my daily life i deal with steels about 950-1150 Mpa steels.
Strength of material is irrelevant here because if you can make a pure steel with finely distributed alloy molecules,no incursions and making it a single grain then a steel would presumably have much greater strengths too.
This is why comparison is pointless, those materials can be made in small amounts, used in niche applications. Comparing those are like comparing size of the cars, the bigger is not always the better there are other parameters which concerns engineers about a material, like malleability, weld-ability (integrable), price etc.
In addition to those: production techniques are important for a material, as well as elongation at yield point, tangent modulus after yield, predictability. Those material coefficients are obtained by hundreds of recurring tests and only an average point has been chosen. So probably if a steel has been classified as 1500 Mpa tensile strength, during the tests they have definitely tested some steels up to 2500 Mpa, but extremes are not accepted because they don't reflect the actual group.

Application and theory is two distinct fields, as i have said theoritically a steel may have much greater strength but does it worth the price?

Aselsan are developing an electron beam gun for additive manufacturing machines.
The company have achieved a 90 kilovolt beam and poked a 1cm diameter hole on a 1.5 mm thick metal without causing arks. Development will proceed to experiments on metal powder within the year 2021.

Which steel? that is the question. I have shown an example of newer alloys up to 2GPa strength, which makes the ratio down to 50.
Those articles never tells an exact kind of steel, is it rolled, forged, there are thousand kinds of steel types out there even a same kind of steel has different properties if its rolled, heated, even the properties vary by thickness.

Technology Workshop was held between ASELSAN and BTU


Aselsan Chairman and General Manager Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün stated that Aselsan is the company with the largest number of R & D personnel in Turkey and said, "Our R & D budget for 2020 is 541 million dollars. According to our basic principle, we devote 7 percent of our turnover to self-sourced R & D projects."used the phrase.

According to a statement from Bursa Technical University, a "technology workshop" was organized with ASELSAN in order to promote the projects carried out within the University and to develop cooperation.

In the statement, Aselsan General Manager Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün stated that they work with 9 thousand staff, 25 associates and 4 thousand suppliers in order to meet Turkey's expectations.

Görgün, who stated that he believes that the work they will carry out with BTU will be useful for both institutions, continued:

"ASELSAN is the company with the largest number of R & D personnel in Turkey. Our R & D budget for 2020 is 541 million dollars. According to our basic principle, we devote 7 percent of our turnover to self-sourced R & D projects. Currently, our active projects have a budget of over $ 350 million. We believe that big business falls to universities in R & D work. By identifying the issues we can collaborate on, we can develop our joint work that we started with our past R & D experience and turn it into useful products and outputs. With all these efforts, we are able to provide high-level technologies to our friends and allies while providing strategic products to our heroic army."

"We believe that we will work with excitement to meet the needs of the country quickly by combining R & D capabilities between BTU and Aselsan. We see these workshops as the first steps to develop new products for the defense industry. We are pleased to be in cooperation with Bursa Technical University, which has adopted the principle of developing high technological products in the areas needed by the industry."he made his assessment.

BTU Rector Prof. Dr. Arif Karademir, on the other hand, stressed that they are proud of the achievements of Aselsan, which has made a great contribution to the Turkish defense industry with the technologies it has developed, domestic and national productions.

Stating that they are excited about the contribution they can make with joint studies, Karademir said: "Although we are still a very young university, we are the second university that allocates the most budget share to R & D expenditures. The first place in Turkey obtained in TUBITAK-2244 Industrial Doctoral Program is the result of our successful cooperation with industry. With the YÖK approved sectoral Education Program (SEP) that we apply, we provide our undergraduate students with work experience while they are still students by providing them with work in the leading companies that we have contracted for one semester. Our students, who receive degrees every year in TEKNOFEST technology competitions, continue their preparation for competitions with nearly 100 teams this year."used the phrase.

As part of the workshop, he also conducted one-on-one interviews with BTU academics, Aselsan officials and engineers who carried out projects in Aselsan's fields of activity.

Prof. Dr. Ozdarendeli: many of the Phase-2 studies in domestic vaccine have been completed

Director of Erciyes University vaccine research and Development Center (ERAGEM) Prof. Dr. Aykut Ozdarendeli reported that domestic vaccine development efforts are continuing.

Prof. Dr. Ozdarendeli, Tekirdag Namik Kemal University Biotocnology community and Faculty of Agriculture Department of Agricultural Biotechnology organized online "6. He participated in biotechnology days" and made a presentation on "Erciyes University Kovid-19 Vaccine Development Studies".

Ozdarendeli, who stated that the effects of the Kovid-19 epidemic were seriously experienced all over the world, said that pandemics in the history of the world were caused by RNA viruses. Ozdarendeli said that the most effective weapon against outbreaks is the development of a vaccine, and important steps have been taken in this sense to combat Kovid-19.

Recalling that vaccine development consists of different processes and steps, Ozdarendeli noted that vaccines include a detailed process from clinical trials to voluntary activities.

Because of the Kovid-19 outbreak, vaccine studies around the world have been very accelerated, Ozdarendeli said, "the vaccine development phase, which will last 10-15 years under Normal conditions, went simultaneously with the Phase-1 study while preclinical studies were continuing, and the Phase-2 and Phase-3 studies went simultaneously. Such work has been and continues to be done around the world. We know that the World Health Organization also allows this." said.

"Vaccine development study continues successfully"

Prof. Dr. Ozdarendeli, supported by the Ministry of Health "inactive against Kovid-19, Adenovector and virus-like particle (VLP) based vaccine candidates development project"began last year and the work continues successfully, he said.

Özdarendeli, who explained that the studies are continuing in Eragem, reminded that Phase-1 and Phase-2 vaccines are applied to volunteers.

Emphasizing that the development of the domestic vaccine is very important, Ozdarendeli noted:

"After the virus was detected in Turkey, we isolated it in a laboratory environment. Then we continued our work by fulfilling the necessary processes. After animal experiments, studies were conducted in Koçak Farma for production. First clinical applications we conducted a Phase-1 study for 44 volunteers at Erciyes University. On November 5, 2020, the first application was made and assessments were made. The most important thing in Phase-1 administration was safety, and no major vaccine-related effects were seen.

Then on February 10, 2021, we started Phase-2 applications, 3 milligrams and 6 milligrams. We finished second on April 9. Currently, many of the studies, such as Phase-2 immune response, have been completed. There is also a serious question of variant. We know that the UK mutant is heavily circulated, especially in our country. So the fact that these vaccine platforms can be adapted to these variants very quickly is another important point of work. In our lab, we have 2 different isolates related to the UK mutant. Our work on it continues."

Nice, hope that you will strenghten further institutional and production capacities in epidemiology/imunology area, it has same importance as defence industry maybe even bigger, cuba and china examples confirm that.

I found something on the BMC Karasu Factory.

=> This Sheds light on what and when everything went South with this Project.

BMC was never supposed to learn how to build Tanks and Tracked vehicles themselves but with a joint Venture including Rheinmetall (Germans) it was going to benefit from their expertise which shows how much the Germans messed up Turkish plans with their Sanctions since the Syrian Interventions from 2016 onwards.
The Engine was of course part of the same problem.
And BMC is trying to learn and develop everything on their own without prior knowledge this is of course going to take time which is why the Arifiye Plant with all their Experienced Engineers in Tracked Vehicles was given to BMC.

Within the scope of the ELMAS project signed with SSB, it is aimed to develop 10 inch ruggedized LCD Display Unit, Graphene based OLED and ITO based Polymer OLED display modules. Acceptance tests of 3 of 6 different prototypes to be delivered have been completed.

The Project (MİLHES) on the Design and Production of Hydroelectric Power Plant Components Domestically, which aims to nationalize hydroelectric power plant components needed intensely by Turkey, targets to prevent outflow of planned investment funds of 7.5 billion dollars for electromechanical HPP equipment, owing to projects conducted wholly with domestic manufacturers.

Design and manufacture from scratch with national capabilities

MİLHES Project materialized a power plant where all the equipment was designed and manufactured from scratch for the first time. As part of the project, vertical type Francis turbine; which is the basis of the National Hydroelectric Power Plant designed from scratch; the synchronous generator, speed regulator, warning system, control and protection systems and all other auxiliary components- were commissioned at the 11 MVA installed power capacity unit in KEPEZ-1 Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Synchronous generator and Francis type turbine of the unit were designed respectively by TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute and TOBB Economy and Technology University (ETÜ), whereas the generator was manufactured at TEMSAN, the Francis turbine was subjected to model tests at TOBB ETÜ test laboratory, and the turbine was manufactured at GİMAS Inc. facilities.

Within the scope of the project, the design and manufacture of control and protection systems, warning system and speed regulator, the unit acceptance tests and the efficiency measurements regarding IEC60041 standard, etc. were realized by TÜBİTAK MAM. In this way, methodological experience has been gained in the manufacture and commissioning of an HPP unit.

Upon the completion of the 11 MVA capacity Kepez-1 HPP with MİLHES project, the target was raised to 44 MVA and the efforts kicked off. With the contract signed on 26 November 2020, the economically worn-out HPP components of Sarıyar Dam in Ankara will be renewed with efficiency-boosted systems at 44 MVA capacity. Thus, Turkey will get the capability to design and manufacture HPPs with over 100 MV installed power capacity.

With the project extending “from R&D to end-product”, the efficiency of HPPs will be improved and the cost of new power plants to be installed in the future will be decreased.
