Otokar Military Vehicles Mission Equipment and Special Projects Purchasing Manager Eylem ALTINTAŞ announced that an active protection system has been developed by Otokar. The statement was made during the Hacettepe Career Days event. It is not known whether the active protection system in question is Hard-Kill or Soft-Kill.

It took aselsan " despite its known experience of the field " around 13 year to develop akkor ..and still in testing phase ... So i dont think otokar APS is a realistic idea

I agree with you.
OTOKARs Situation inside the Country is known but Perhaps they are targeting a foreign Costumer like UAE with whom they have a Collaboration going on (AL-JASOOR)

> They should rather Focus on Future Propulsion Technology like Electricity which should be possible since there Civil Department is Collaborating with FORD.

I don't know if anybody remembers Konya based AKIN ROBOTICS but when they showed there robot for the first and it seemed pretty unstable and lacking quite a few people made fun of it on Twitter.

Thank God they weren't demotivated and they came very far. These Guys work will be critical in in a few years.

Cities Will Get Smarter with ASELSAN

I am glad to see this kind of news. I hope camera systems will be part of the smart move. I guess our industry has developed and grown enough for us to be able to start doing these projects.

Apparently BMC has been sold.

MAJORITY OF BMC GOES TO TOSYALI

According to the news in Dünya newspaper, Ethem Sancak and Talip Öztürk, who have a total of 50.1 percent shares in BMC, in which the Qatari army has a 49.9 percent stake, sold all of their shares to steel producer Tosyalı Holding.

BMC was sold to Ethem Sancak for 751 million TL by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) in 2014.

New CEO of BMC:

Murat Yalçıntaş , former President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), who received the title of professor from Istanbul Commerce University , was appointed as the CEO of the defense industry company BMC.

According to the news of Yener Karadeniz from the World , Assoc. Dr. Murat Yalçıntaş received the title of professor.
Yalçıntaş, who will wear a robe today, has been appointed as the CEO of the defense industry company BMC, whose majority shares belong to Tosyalı Holding.

I was looking up this retweet from Gürcan OKUMUS (CEO of TOGG)

Localized mechanism for ASELSAN collects orders from abroad

The flexible projectile trajectory, which can be exported under a special license and localized for ASELSAN's remote-controlled weapon systems, is in high demand from abroad.

Anova R&D Technologies Co-Founder Dursun Öner told AA correspondent at the 3rd Efficiency and Technology Fair that the flexible bullet path used in weapon systems can be procured from abroad by obtaining a special license.

Pointing out that this situation creates problems for the weapon systems developed in Turkey and to be exported, Öner stated that they have localized this product in line with ASELSAN's needs. Öner emphasized that the flexible bullet path is also one of the first examples of ASELSAN's recent localization and nationalization move.

Öner stated that they first developed a domestic product for 12.7 millimeter bullets in 2012 as part of the studies, and said, "The purpose of the flexible bullet path is to prevent errors that may occur in the feeding of the bullet from the bullet box to the gun in remote controlled weapon systems, and to prevent the gun from jamming. This adventure that we started continued with the localization of products used in all remote-controlled weapon systems such as 25, 30, 40 millimeters. Currently, we have created a product range in 12 calibers." said.

Explaining that they evaluated the 5-6 years after the first product's appearance as developing the product, verifying it in the field, and using it by the customers, Öner said:

"Recently, there has been a serious demand, especially from abroad. We are also starting to export to companies in Europe and America. When the companies received their prototypes and tried them at the first stage, they said that they were satisfied and that they would pass the mass production orders. We are lucky in this regard during the pandemic, our business continues to increase."

It also opened the door for the export of new products.

Emphasizing that exporting such a product is a serious gain for the company, Öner said that they are trying to transfer the talent they have gained at this point to their other products, as it stands out as an item that provides contact with companies abroad and earns foreign currency for the country. Dursun Öner said, "We started to design and supply the sub-parts of other types of weapon systems that foreign companies especially liked with the flexible bullet method, especially in weapon systems. We are starting to export these as well. " used the phrases.

After land and sea, he starts to work in air vehicles.

Pointing out that they started the flexible bullet track product family by meeting the needs of land vehicles, Öner said:

"Our products are used in all three areas, since the remote-controlled weapon systems are placed on air platforms such as helicopters and airplanes and naval platforms such as frigates, considering the safety of the personnel. It is now fully used in marine and land systems."

It was aired yesterday, we rarely see Gurcan Okumuş as moderator :)
Unfortunately it is in Turkish and no translation is available at the moment, the whole talk is about advanced materials, additive manufacturing, high quality steels and alloys.

"MENATEK will meet with its clients at the exhibition in Ukraine "Weapons and Security 2021"

> MENATEK, one of Turkey's defense companies, will open a booth at the Exhibition of Weapons and Security 2021, which starts on June 15 in Ukraine.
> MENATEK Business Development and Strategy Director Naz Unal spoke about MENATEK's cooperation with Ukraine and its future goals.

"Ukraine is a very valuable market for us. Especially since the last couple of years they have been changing their military products to NATO standards.
Ukraine has become a more attractive market for MENATEK as well. It is now in the process of developing and designing or purchasing new cars. As MENATEK, we plan to play a significant role in the supply of subsystems for these weapons machines.
We are already in contact with several large companies in Ukraine. With one of them, we have already developed the full chassis of their crawler machine. This is an infantry fighting vehicle.
From June 15 to 18, we will also be at the exhibition of Ukrainian weapons and security.
And we look forward to the opportunity to take a more active part in Ukraine's military industry in the near future. "
