Iranian Navy's largest Ship, I.R.I.N.S Makran, Observed On Sea Trials

The Iranian Navy is joining the IRGC in converting large merchant ships to function as Forward Base Ships. The Iranian Navy's version, the I.R.I.N.S. Makran (441), is by far the largest. As previously reported it was floated in November. From at least December 9-14 it was on sea trials in the general vicinity of the Straits of Hormuz.

The Forward Base ships are similar in concept to the expeditionary mobile base (EMB). In terms of overall dimensions it is approximately the same size as the U.S> Navy's USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB-3).

Iran's Makran forward base ship joins the country' naval fleet. Iran claims it's the first forward base ship in the Middle East. It's going to serve both the Army and cargo ships. It can carry up to 7 choppers, and be used for missile, drone, and e-warfare operations.

It's amazing how the Iranians managed to keep those Hueys, Sea Kings and Super Stallions airworthy all these years despite the embargos.

It is more amazing they just paint a steel deck without any non-slip coating and carry those helicopters without any fixation. (pardon me, i haven't really seen some fixation point on the deck)
edit: Looks like there are some fixation points, finally they have added it.

Well our latest carrier puts to sea today. They are looking for a ships company to man it now and by 2022 we may get some planes to fly off if we can recruit a few pilots. ANY VOLUNTEERS?

This one is more dangerous to the crew then to the potential enemy, basically refitted tanker with welded platform. strange effort.
