Mi-171 crashes in Iraq

On Wedsnesday night 28 July 2021, under unknown circumstances, an Iraqi Army Aviation Command (IAAC) Mi-171 of the Fourth Utility Squadron (4sq) crashed in the area near Tuz Khurmatu, the central city of Tooz District in Saladin Governorate (Iraq), some 50 miles south of Kirkuk.
Unfortunately all five occupants sadly perished in the crash.
Fourth Utility Squadron is part of the Transport Helicopter Wing at Taji, just north of Baghdad. It is very likely that this helicopter was forward operating from Kirkuk, where a temporary deployment of Mi-171 helicopters has been operating for several years now.
